Personally I would recommend anything by the following bands/artists. Abe Natsumi, AKB48, Berryz Koubou, Biyuuden, Buono!, °C-ute, Goto Maki, Koda Kumi, Matsuura Aya, Melon Kinenbi, Morning Musume, Ongaku Gatas and Yuna Ito.
I've had Stay Gold by Utada Hikaru on my MP3 player for a while. I'm also gonna be typical and generic, and recommend Gackt and Dir en Grey.
