I downloaded FireFox 3 on download day - which was the 17th. i like the new look like the buttons and the address bar! favourites are much easier! what do you think?
I like that it's a lot safer, but two of the things that I don't like is that the google bar is a little smaller and I can't figure out if I can change it, and the other thing is that the address bar things are so huge. Like... when you type something in and it gives you a list of options, those options are huge. Other than that, I do adore it. <3
I've had the beta version on my linux laptop for a little while now. The changes to the address bar drop-down seem kind of neat. Visually, it's not much difference from firefox 2. I'm more interested in the improved memory management I've heard about. The old versions were never that great at memory management. Haven't had any issues with any of my add-ons, also.
I think its ace =] and you can change the size of the search bar....just put your mouse in between the address bar and the search bar and drag it across
I think LOVEjames means the height of the search bar, because it was bigger in FF 2 but yeh, I like it, especially the new address bar thing... but it means EC is MUCH harder to hide without deleting my history!
Its awesome but I miss the look of my old firefox. I had it pimped out, it was all black and green and I have no clue how to do it again. but it is cool
I think it's really great !! And for people who don't like some of the new features, maybe this will help: http://lifehacker.com/396312/power-users-guide-to-firefox-3
I've had the beta for a while, and quite like it. I don't like how they changed the "open all in tabs" behaviour but oh well... I'll live. I always get rid of the Google/Search field thing and just set my addressbar to do a regular Google search (rather than the Google "I'm Feeling Lucky" search I believe it does by default). As for the height of the items in the addressbar dropdown (which they've dubbed the "AwesomeBar"), yeah it's definitely way bigger but somehow much, much more useful. I like how bookmarks work with the star and how you can give them tags, too. And the Smart Bookmarks folders are cool, too.
I think this is what I like most about open source software. Microsoft could never get away with calling something an "AwesomeBar".
The new addressbar is my favorite improvement. The only thing is that I have yet to figure out how to install it on linux.
I just installed it today and it seems to be quite good! And thanks for that link JSG, some pretty nice tweaks there :icon_bigg
I don't like the new buttons, the old ones were prettier. I like the favourite thing in the address bar, don't know how much I'll use it but it's more convenient.
It would be spectacular if it made use of the two add-ons I use most often (a web development tool and linkification). I can live without the linkification for now but if I can't find a new web development tool set then I might actually downgrade to Firefox 2.
its firefox. sorry i'm not huge on the whole apps and crap but it does look cool and i like drop down address bar!
I think that there is too much for a web browser there. It needs to be simpler. it gets pretty confusing!
