The program tonight had a trans woman that was a waitress. There was an actor playing a guy who only knew her as a man. When he saw her he acted all disgusted and kept running her down. The show wanted to see how many people came to her defense. There were a fair number that stood up for her. One man acted like he was going to fight the rude man.
Hey, progress is progress, I suppose. I bet a while ago, either everyone would've done nothing or she'd have been ganged up on. At least that didn't happen...right?
"Still, most of the people in the diner did absolutely nothing." And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have either. Nor would the vast majority of people. I'd LIKE to, believe me, there is plenty of injustice I'd like to stand up to, but I don't and probably never will because I don't want to get the shit kicked out of me. I don't think the non-reactions of most people are any kind of indication of their viewpoint.
I think WWYD is actually on ABC. Also, I think this situation is probably a rerun, as I first saw it about a year ago. It's good that some people stood up for the waitress.
It's called the bystander effect. Even if they did something people still leave it to others. Although I like the fact people are standing up for transgender and transsexual people now.:eusa_danc I would stand up for someone in that situation. I'm quite confident in my self defense.
That's good. I love What Would You Do, I watch it on Youtube all the time. The do a lot of good LGBT related topics.
I used to think "It's none of my business." This show makes me think that maybe it is my business. It could have been on ABC. Our local Affiliates switched channels. Channel 22 used to be NBC and channel 2 used to be ABC.
At least there were people who stood up for her. She's a lady, and most importantly, a human being. I saw this one a while back, and it made me so glad that there are people out there who are chivalrous enough to stand up for others.
