I love this show. Bea, Rue, Estelle, and Betty were just downright amazing. Someone had asked me recently which one I identified with the most, and which one was my favorite. These were two very hard questions because I liked every single one of the characters for very different reasons. I would have to go with Dorothy because of her sarcastic sense of humor, and the way she handled things. Bea always had the perfect timing on lines, but so did all of them. The more I thought about which one I identified with the most it became more clear to me. I identify with Blanche more. I love my men, and I love to look good. Well, and I am a southern "Belle" too. Hehe.

So who is your favorite Golden Girl and why. Also which one do you identify with the most?

I used to watch them all the time! I used to stay up late until the marathon started on Lifetime and watch the whole three hours. I love Sophia, and I identify with her the most. I have no filter just like she does, whatever pops into my head is what I say. I like things a certain way and i don't like being ordered around which is also a Sophia trait.

But I also have a little Rose in me too, I can be absolutely ditsy sometimes and can find something good in almost any situation.

Dorothy Zbornak is like looking in a mirror. Her witticisms and comebacks remind me so much of myself. She comes off as strong and independent, but still has a soft spot for her Ma.

I could never choose a favorite.

This show. Oh my God this show. You've no idea the nostalgic value this show bears for me. I've watched it since I was a wee itty-bitty. Usually with my mom while lying in her bed.

Definitely Bea Arthur. She was amazing.

I also liked her in the even earlier show, Maude.

I would put it this way. I don't identify with any of them. I have seen about a handful of episodes.

If there were "male equivalents" of each of the stars, I would have a little bit of all of them, including some Blanche, but she would be the smallest percentage by far. I did not like Blanche's character. I know of some Blanche facsimiles in real life, through people our family was acquainted with. Not good.

    Favorite Golden Girls character: Dorothy.

But at times I feel like I'm most like Rose.

I sort of wish I were like Blanche: it would be nice to be Hot, and have a date on Friday instead of grocery shopping and a stop by Goodwill!

    x2

Actually, I like Maude much better.

Yes. Never cared for Golden Girls, but Maude is hilarious.

This is my valuable contribution to this thread.

My favourite character is Dorothy because of her wit, sarcasm and having an answer ready to about every situation.
