It's probably my favourite genre besides hip hop and I'm always keen to hear stuff I don't know yet. Basically I'd like people to post anything that qualifies as alternative rock which they think is good, and anyone who sees who's into it, can find some new music. Anything I haven't heard before that gets posted, I'll listen to.

I'm using a pretty loose definition of alternative rock so don't worry about it, if you think it qualifies, it does. To get started, some of my favourites.

    Pavement - Summer Babe
    Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot
    Radiohead - Creep
Guided By Voices - I Am A Scientist

They're one of my favorite bands of all time. I've seen them live three times and it's like a religious experience.

They really are good. The song "story of my life" helped me through my depression when i couldn't find a job, and it seemed like my life was slipping through my hands so fast that i couldn't grab anything. I've never been to one their shows, but i bet it was awesome!

Love the green, like or am at least familiar with the blue. Pick a couple artists based off the green, post a couple tracks to convince me to love them, if that's ok, please

On Smashing Pumpkins, I've heard Mellon Collie and remember not enjoying it, but this was way back so might be persuaded to give them another chance. Appreciate all the tracks and specific recs people have already posted, enjoying Cure For Pain now, though I don't think it needs the brass tbh

And finally, everyone else's liberal definition of alternative rock gives me a license to post these :icon_bigg
    Television - Marquee Moon
The Jesus And Mary Chain - Never Understand
    Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
    The Modern Lovers - Roadrunner
    The Modern Lovers - Hospital

Modern Lovers specifically for blond because you like replacements, lmk.

    One single word: PLACEBO.

Gosh, I just love that band. Their music speaks to me in such a way, they are very inovative from one record to another and it just feels like they really put their soul into the music that they make. Or maybe I'm just too much of a fan lol. I don't know, I think it could be catalogued as alternative rock.

    Check them out:slight_smile:.

One of my favorite bands, Matchbook Romance, is a good band to check out. Their first album is more heavier than their second album. Their second album is really great - it has that alternative/rock vibe to it.

I listen to only rock, mainly alternative. Most of this is a bit older; some may describe it as pop but it really isn't imho. Just some bands, picking songs is too hard. Some may be a little bit harder than the others; hope that's okay. Some of the stuff that is considered pop I am recommending for older albums, from earlier in the century or even the 90s.

    Daughtry
    David Cook
    Matchbox Twenty
    Rob Thomas
    The Goo Goo Dolls
    Lifehouse
    Maroon 5
    The Fray
    Five For Fighting
    Default
    Switchfoot
    Secondhand Serenade
    Muse
    Kings Of Leon
    Mumford And Sons
    Nickelback
    Train

Imo if you wanna get into Smashing Pumpkins you should listen to Siamese Dream first... It's a much more accessible album than Mellon Collie, even though if you get into them you'll probably end up loving Mellon Collie more... Siamese Dream is a brilliant album as well, though, one of my favourite albums ever

Here are some of the best tracks off Siamese Dream, if you only listen to one though, make sure it's Disarm  One of my favourite songs evar!

    Disarm
    Cherub Rock
