Two episodes ago I talked about Family Guy's sudden change in views on Gay Marriage...I'd like to count the sins that I caught on this new episode

1.) They had a perceived gay man show respect/admiration towards a homophobe

2.) They compared Obama becoming president to 9/11

3.) They had the antagonists of the episode be revealed to be U.S. soldiers which immediately turned them into heroes despite the fact that their actions clearly weren't admirable in the slightest.

There were others, but it's hard to immediately recall them all =/

I feel like Bill O Reilly is writing Family Guy's script anymore -.-'

Judging by the points that you made, that sounds like Seth MacFarlane's regular offensive humor to me. Although, I haven't watched an episode of Family Guy in a few months, so maybe I'm missing something.

You sure there was no intended irony involved? Haven't watched it myself, but the third thing sounds like a typical parody/satire thing

I've learned to not let Family Guy get to me if they make fun of my beliefs or lifestyle. Because in the grand scheme of things, they make fun of everyone at some point, and while a few episodes don't work, usually they're funny as heck.

It's hard to explain...it's like the undertone of the entire show has changed.

No. I'm positive it wasn't any kind of irony. It's weird and hard to explain, but the show doesn't feel like the show anymore. I've been watching Family Guy since episode 1, and it's never really given me these vibes until recently.

I've never once been bothered by an episode of Family Guy...until these new ones. It's not the same show. I keep waiting for them to shift back to their usual antics, but...the last three in a row have included at least one hit against homosexuality ( not in their usual fashion. These were like personal attacks where their usual stuff is light-hearted )

Well I heard somewhere that the creator basically wants the show to die out so he can focus on "American Dad"

This might be a good plan because I regularly watch American Dad and like the tongue in cheek-ness of it.

I also much prefer American Dad. There seems to be actual humour behind it, not just flatulence jokes and 'how many people can we offend at once' plot lines.

Haha Family guy didn't use to be so bad.

In the olden days it followed a story, and occasionally cut to those kinds of jokes. Now it does those kinds of jokes and tosses a semi-done story in the mix =/

I don't really watch Family Guy anymore unless it's on the TV at work, but it can still be good for a laugh. What's the episode name? I'll give it a watch and let you know what I think. But what I like about Family Guy is that it makes fun of everyone, no-one's safe when it comes to their satirical parody-like humor, which is great!

Ok, in all honesty, I didn't really see a problem with that episode. It's just your standard Family Guy episode.
