The books and films have always been a lifeline for me! Just wondering if there were any other Potterheads out there...

I like how people are always bashing the Half-Blood Prince all the time, even though the rest of the movies omitted a lot too. The potion challenge in the Philosopher/Sorcerer's Stone for example.

But yeah I guess you could count me a fan  I like the world Rowling has built.

I just finished watching the order of the Phoenix as it happens! You can imagine my surprise when I log on and see this straight away :icon_bigg
Having said that, I think the books are infinitely better than the films, and I love the films

It's mostly a problem with the 4th, 6th and 7th movies where they feel disconnected due to missing or confusing plot elements instead of forming a cohesive story like the books. The 1st and 2nd movie even if they left a couple things out had more of a natural flow to it and was easier to follow, had set ups and payoffs and etc; overall felt more like a movie than a bunch of trimmed down scenes cut from a book and played in sequence.

I think the movies are flawed and largely perfer the books but they all have redeeming qualities such as some awesome performances by Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon and plenty more

Well the actors weren't actually picked on their acting ability, but on how the people casting felt they looked like each character.

*Looks at my Harry Potter Books and Ravenclaw scarf (Gryffindor Colours looked to much like my Tom Baker Scarf) and Harry Potter Want and Poster*

No can't stand the books. Terrible.

In all seriousness I"ll love the books to the day I die, and are the only books which I'll usually reread every year.

The movies on the other hand I"m indifferent to. I try to approach the movies as separate from the books and in that case, as movies I don't think they are brilliant, but certainly good and the acting and diversity of the British cast ks rather amazing.

I LOVE the books, though not the movies so much. Though I still watch them whenever they're on.
