Frank Ocean is an R&B artist.
Azealia Banks is a rapper and she's Bosexial.

And if you want punk I recommend listening to Against Me!'s new album. Their singer is a trans* woman.

 

Freddie Mercury's already been suggested. If you like metal, Rob Halford of Judas Priest has done some other stuff outside of Priest which is worth checking out.

 

Even tho he isnt alive anymore QUEEN was gay and I think he would be a strong contender as one of the best artists of all time he sings his music with such passion and feel he doesnt just sing the songs he feels them and he is in the song if you watch his concerts on youtube you will see what I mean oh and elton john is gay too

Morrissey of The Smiths has always tried to be ambiguous when talking about his sexuality, but I'd say he's pretty gay, many lyrics of his are almost explicitly so.

The Smiths helped me possibly more than anything 'come to terms' with being gay, lyrics had so much resonance with my experiences/ feelings.

And I know QUEEN was already mentioned, but I have to mention it again because I can not express my love enough for them! Freddie Mercury was absolutely amazing and was also bisexual The remaining members are going on tour this summer with Adam Lambert, who also happens to be gay! His voice is amazing too, so that's a plus
Oh! And Elton John is absolutely fabulous!!!

Handel and Vivaldi never married, not that that confirms anything. I'm not trying to imply that they led sexually active lifestyles, just that in nature they may not have been straight.

 

Lou Reed was a pretty good bisexual musician who jumps between a lot of different genres, for shame that Lulu album he did with Metallica ruined his career somewhat =/

Just to clarify, Queen is the band, their singer Freddy Mercury was a LGBT person, though if I remember correctly both him and Elton John are male-prefering bisexuals.

I think Elton John first came out as bi, but has long since been out as gay.

 

Schubert and Beethoven neither. (Although Beethoven sure made music his wanton mistress.) And there has been a lot of speculation about their sexualities. Fact is, though, due partially to a lack of verifiable information surviving from so many decades ago, as well as the fact that queerness as we now understand it hadn't yet been defined in a modern sense, there really is no way of knowing for many figures this far back in history.

If we want to impose our 21st century paradigm on these eras, it's entirely possible to interpret historical figures such as, say, Abraham Lincoln, to have been queer. Of course, such a thought process opens the can of worms about whether the modern sexual paradigm is really valid or worthwhile, etc., etc..

I'll stop before my usual long-windedness becomes completely flatulent.
