Anyone a Poetry fan around? I'm a massive fan of Slam poetry, always looking for something new! Just read Rapture by Carol Ann Duffy! Any favourites anyone?

Haven't heard of it, might have a look! I really need a couple of new anthologies! Loved the staying alive trio!

John Cooper Clarke is my favourite poet as his poems are rather witty and he tends to avoid the "woe is me" type clichés.

I like poetry, too. It helped me to cope with a few things and I've written some poems myself:grin:

Love Rumi's work, though clichéd these days!

Emily Dickinson. The life pours from her sparse words in a torrent.

I love poetry, especially classic poetry. Dante's The Divine Comedy is a personal favourite, as well as the works of Edgar Allen Poe. I've also written quite a few myself.

    Not Waving but Drowning

    Not Waving but Drowning

    By Stevie Smith 1902–1971
    Stevie Smith

Nobody heard him, the dead man,
    But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
    And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larkinglarking Playing tricks, kidding, fooling around.
    And now he’s dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
    They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
    And not waving but drowning.

This poem describes how gay feels to me sometimes.

I agree! It's really powerful and touching. Hope it's not the that feeling all the time! Truly moving...
