Anybody here into folk? I'm starting to really like it. I like Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Eddie vedder's solo work and fionn regan. Any recommendations? Preferably deep lyrics
I like folk, but when I think of folk I think mumford and sons It's weird how there are so many different types of 'folk' music: there's things from the mainstream folk bands (mumford & sons) all the way to the hippie, traditional 'folk' bands. It's crazy aha
Check out a group called Old Crow Medicine Show; they're one of my favorite bands of all time. I would characterize them as country/folk.
I haven't been listening to much of it lately, but I love some Dylan, and Nick Drake. My favorite Nick Drake songs are Pink Moon, and Northern Sky. How about you?
Leonard Cohen jumps to mind for deep lyrics, seeing as he was a published poet before becoming an amazing folk singer. I'm also on a huge Townes van Zandt kick right now. A little on the country/blues-folk side, but I think his lyrics can often stand up quite nicely as poetry too.
I really like I hear them all. Have any others like it :icon_bigg? From the morning and Things behind the sun. The lyrics on things behind the sun are so so beautiful. I forgot to mention him
Yes I was about to say, I adore Leonard Cohen. Leonard Cohen - Dress Rehearsal Rag Crosby, Stills and Nash too, I think that counts as folk rock. Crosby, Stills & Nash - Suite Judy Blue Eyes
Nick Drake is the most underrated human being of all time. Pink Moon is a masterpiece (my favorite song is Harvest Breed). I love the song 'Folk Bloodbath' by Josh Ritter right now. Murder ballads, yo.
