I distinctly remember my cousins watching, But I'm a Cheer Leader First gay movie I ever watched. The only early memory I had of it was Rufio(Hook) & Sunshine(Remember the Titans) making out and my sisters were laughing because they understood the situation of the movie at that point, where I only walked in on the movie part.

    What was your's?

Hmm probably Threesome by Andrew Flemming... I went to see it ummm... probably 10 times at least.

Dragged my best friend to half of those probably. No wonder she didn't surprise when I told her I am gay. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The L Word, I guess. I was going through the questioning phase at the time and I'd go to various forums and people would mention it, so I ended up watching it.

First show was Six Feet Under in my teens, which I watched clandestinely with my brother, petrified that my parents would come in during a gay scene... although there was a gay couple in a soap I watched at the time as well, which was perhaps earlier... but I only occasionly watched that one.

First movie was probably Imagine Me and You.

Brothers and Sisters was the show that I watched when I started questioning, so Saul's storyline hit a little too close to home.

The Laramie Project. A TV movie adaptation of the play, inspired by what happened in Laramie, WY after the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard.

Brokeback Mountain. I saw it when I was 17.

I didn't really like it that much. I felt that they didn't show enough love between Jack and Ennis. It felt more like they had a sexual addiction to each other rather than any feelings based on their personalities. I mean, obviously they felt something for each other but it felt like their entire relationship was just built on the fact that they were both gay and didn't have anyone else to share that experience with.

The ending was also depressing and just made me want to not be gay even more since the movie kinda gave the impression that life is crappy for gay people.

It is a very well directed and acted movie (RIP Heath Ledger) but I certainly don't hail it as one of the greatest love stories of all time. In fact, its not so much a love story as it is a film about the consequences of a homophobic society.

It was a TV movie called "Consenting Adult", with Marlo Thomas and Martin Sheen playing the parents of a high school boy who was realizing he was gay. I was in my early 20's when it first showed and made me do a lot of thinking about coming out, since I already knew I was attracted to guys. And the lead character seemed like a very average kid, not at all flamboyantly gay, so it made me feel like coming out might actually be a "safe" thing to do after all. But then a few months later, a bunch of messed-up family events started happening (my sister's unexpected pregnancy and rushed marriage, a move, and the unexpected deaths of a number of key people in my life), and the closet felt like the only safe place in my existence at the time.

My first was But I'm A Cheerleader. At the time it was the only LGBT movie available at the rental store. I was thankful that the title and dvd cover didn't "look gay." Then I discovered The L Word.

Would movies like "Mulan" and "The Emperor's New Groove" count? If so, then I was between six and eight years old.

Seriously, though, it might be a tie: "The Birdcage" and "To Wong Foo, thanks for everything! Julie Newmar". As for shows...can I count "The Nanny" on this? It didn't have gay people that I remember, but Fran was awesome. If it's invalid, then Will and Grace, though I only saw a few chapters.
