Anyone else listen to the Welcome to Night Vale podcast? If you don't it has great representation and is really amusing(Without being offensive) and slightly scary at times(Extensional crisis anyone?). It's surreal but the radio host (Cecil) treats everything from the deadly librarians to the secretive dog park really casually. He also fangirls over Carlos the Scientist an awful lot. The fandom is pretty small but really creative and pretty chill about all head canons for what the characters look like(You never get a solid description of anyone except for Carlos) You can watch it for free on youtube c:
I LOVE Welcome to Night Vale. It's laugh out loud hilarious and totally creepy in a fantastic way. Cecil's voice is everything. He's perfect.
I love Night Vale. I'm really sad I couldn't see the live show that happened in I think Pittsburgh or Philadelphia sometime earlier this year. Looking forward to the next podcast in two weeks...much tension!

Night Vale is great all around: representation, humor/dark balance, total bizarre setting, and story morals. I almost miss bits of dialogue that initially sound just usually weird only to realize it has some incredibly deep and sometimes very sweet meanings. No regrets in finding it, and I highly suggest it to all. Also, excited Cecil is a national treaure that must be protected at all costs.
I feel as if they're lacking in the disability representation a bit. I want Cecil to casually mention a character and the fact that they have a prosthetic leg or something. Like he mentions he found an old interns prosthetic and feels sad or something?
We may get some soon, but I feel that they give a lot of it to fans to create their own headcanons regarding characters.
Yeah, they do. They've said that they're not going to go into anymore detail about most of the characters. *Is now wondering what happened to poor Cecil as she hasn't seen that far* NoaWinchester: It only gets better as you go!
I am a bit behind, but there is the girl whose body is only a man's hand, who requires an assistive device to communicate.
Yeah, but I don't feel like it's 'proper' disability representation, I feel as if they're making a bit more of a joke about it than what they do with race and sexuality. I think that instead of having a made up disability they should include a real life one.
Ah, that is a fair point. I felt it more of a supernatural metaphor than a joke, as Cecil seems very empathetic toward her. But as for real disabilities, maybe they will include it at some point, I'd like to see that, as well.
