What do you think about 3D movies? Do you think they enhance the viewing experience? Can you sit through a 3D movie? Also, what about other 3D entertainment such as the 3DS? Personally, I can't watch 3D movies or play 3D games as it gives me a terrible headache. I remember watching avatar in 3D, and it did look good, but has in it had a headache after. I personally don't feel it adds much. What's your opinion? Happy days
I adore 3D movies. I remember going to watch Gravity in IMAX 3D and it was a truly amazing experience, it really enhances my enjoyment of the film
I sat through Finding Nemo in 3D when it was re-released last year, but I really do try to avoid 3D movies. I don't suffer headaches so much anymore after they stopped using the red and blue lenses, but I can only focus on one thing at a time on the screen instead of being able to see the whole picture. It gets a bit frustrating when there's a lot to see.
Every time I see a preview that says a movie is in theaters in 3D, my first thought is, "Crap, now I have to wait for the DVD to come out."
Not worth the 3 extra dollars for me. Always get awful headaches and end up taking the glasses off. IMAX might be worth it - the last time I saw one with that was Avatar and I didn't get a headache from it, and it looked rather nice.
It CAN be used to great effect, but it almost always isnt. Like in Avatar or Megamind where it was used to great effect to give you some perspective on size and distance and its amazing. But since most people don't use it that way I don't see the point...
In movies that could do with it like Spiderman or such like, yeah it's a good feature. But in the majority of 3D films I've seen they just paid lip service to 3D, with most of the film looking pretty 2D with only a few 3D shots there just for the sake of it. Not worth the premium price really. Honestly, a lot of people go on about 3D, but really... 2D isn't that bad!
This. I actually liked the 3D for Gravity and less so for Avatar because those movies are all about the visual spectacle. But overall, I'd prefer that they ditch 3D and just focus on making regular movies, you know, better? Oh and I am loath to pay money on top of the already offensively high ticket prices.
I love watching 3D movies, especially since they got rid of those blue and red glasses, those things gave me headaches. However, I don't think that they enhance the movie, unless we're talking about action movies.
The only 3D movie I've seen was Monsters University. I honestly had a hard time even seeing a difference. Not sure if it's because I wear glasses or what, but after a while I didn't even notice the 3D effect anymore. I prefer the regular versions of 3D movies because I can tell where the 3D is supposed to come in, and it looks cool anyway without it actually being there.
It was cool in like 1993 at the terminator show in Universal studios. But yea I don't really care for it.
