What books or films have you cried at, and you weren't expecting them to make you cry?
I don't usually cry at books or films so I'm always really surprised when it happens, but I was especially surprised when I read Perks Of Being A Wallflower for the first time last year and cried twice because I related to Charlie and wanted to hug him so much.

So that's my question. What books/films have you unexpectedly cried at? And also, what are your absolute favourite books?

I didn't cry at any of the books but I've cried at both the films so far!

I cried at the end of "The Return of the King" but that was just because I was upset at finishing the LOTR books as they had become such a big part of my life.

My all time favourite books, apart from LOTR, are: 1984 by George Orwell, The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C Clarke and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

I have to admit I haven't read most of those, but I got like halfway through Fahrenheit 451. It's really good!

Only one: Bridge to Terabithia. I had no idea it was coming and that movie (and book I guess) touched me so deeply already by that point, so my heart was turned to hamburger. I was not okay for a number of days. :tears:

I saw the end of Captain Phillips yesterday and caught the ending again today. Both times I just broke down at the end of the movie. I am trying to catch the start of it but so far keep missing out. Powerful movie.

The most I've ever cried was at a play. Of mice and men. It was so sad. As far as films go I've teared up at hachi.

Marley & Me is the only movie that has ever gotten my tears.
