Well, what do you think of "Where The Wild Things Are"? It was the first film I saw in the cinema - back in 2009 - and I've loved it ever since! Also, the book was AMAZING!
Wait, what? There's a film? THERE'S A FILM? WHAT? WHY DO I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS? I LOVE Where The Wild Things Are! My dad used to read it to me when I was a kid and it was one of the only books that really frightened me as a child. It's beautiful. I really love it.
I love that book...especially the part where there are pictures and no words, during the wild monster party that takes place. It left it up to me and my kids to come up with the sounds that they would make.
My dad used to do this with me too and we would have fun roaring our terrible roars and gnashing our terrible teeth. I loved this book so so so much.
I love this book, and I loved how the movie expanded on it to make something really real and emotional. Back at school I had a class in writing/illustrating children's books and of course "Where the Wild Things Are" was one of the books we studied. That gave me even more of an appreciation for it, noticing things, for example, like how the illustrations start off quite small and contained then explode to double page spreads when Max and the Wild Things have their wild rumpus.
I love the book. I wasn't too keen on the film, though… There was a lot of aspects to it that were either strange and/or nonsensical.
I remember reading the book all the time as a kid. I loved the movie - though It was just a little too "hipster" for some people, but I though it was a great representation of the imagination of a 10-year old. Also, holy crap that picture. 40-year old Max is wort Max.
