Did anyone here see the premiere? What did you think? My opinion is that I liked it. Though it was kinda hard to watch some of the scenes, and it wasn't without clichés. I still think it was fairly good, and I'm already loving Sammy and how confident he is. The first episode didn't even mention the word gay, yet we all know Sammy is gay, because of the comments he made, and him flirting with Abdul. I find that very refreshing and cool. I just wonder if his parents know, and if not.. how will they find out? Guess I'll just have to continue to watch it to see how it will all play out.
Awe man when did it come out I totally forgot I planned on watching it. It looked very interesting just tell me how was it on a scale out of ten? And should I watch it?
I think it came out on tuesday. It's really hard to rate it. Because after watching it the first time I frikkin LOVED IT. But stupid me read some of the reviews, and the criticism, and then I realized it might not be as good as I thought. I do agree with some of the criticism. Like the casting (kids are good.. parents, meh), the dad doesn't look like an Arab, and he's not.. he's played by a British guy. Also.. that guy from Weed showed up, and I think he's miscast. I think he was good on Weed and Modern Family, but not in this role. On the other hand.. the family do come across as likeable, and the kids are your typical annoying teenagers. Like I said.. I'm impressed with how they've dealt with Sammy's sexuality so far. They never even mentioned the word gay, they just let it play out. Sammy had a couple of interesting scenes, especially the first one where you realize he's gay. The comment he made was sorta funny. What I'm most impressed with is the acting of the main character's brother, and the father. I also love the scenery. On the other hand you have the show being very violent/gruesome, with rape, violence etc. I understand why people say it's sexist, and some people even complain about racism! I think they take it a bit far though tbh. First of all.. we all know how women are treated in the Arabic world. This isn't something new. Second, it was mostly his brother doing all the horrible things, guess why.. to establish that he was BAD. So again.. I don't completely agree with this criticism, but I do wish they'd get an Arab guy to play the main character, not a British one! Sorry this got so long... I just have so many thoughts about it. I'd probably rate it 6 or 6.5 out of 10. You should watch it then tell me what you think about it
