To compliment the other 10/10 threads, had to happen really. What are the songs you think are perfect, just completely flawless.

Try not to post so many though, maybe 15 tops, so I can keep up. So basically you're just posting your 15 favourite songs, but I wanted to stick with the theme! Go!

Yeah youtube links would be nice too :icon_bigg

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant-- Billy Joel. It is a sweeping, and yet deeply intimate slice of life that shows every level of musical mastery. It was just weird to listen to when I was 13, but now, it's magic. Classic literature in melody.

He Went to Paris-- Jimmy Buffett. He doesn't have quite the musical genius of my main man above ^^ but he is a phenomenal songwriter who creates emotionally-packed lyrics seemingly without even trying. This quiet little song takes you through a man's tumultuous life story in about 2 and a half minutes, and requires no spectacle about it to draw tears.

Heaven-- Los Lonely Boys. I chose this one because it's their most famous song and one of the more varied ones, but also because it assumes a very humble wish-- to know how far heaven is. Not to get there, or what it's like, just a glimpse of what the singer is in for. I love its small scope coupled with absolutely, in the words of Jack Black, face-melting guitar shredding. I could listen to LLB all day long and never get tired of this one in particular.

EDIT: Included links to songs, hope they work  I could probably think of more, but these reviews get my musical taste across pretty well.

    1. First days of spring- Noah and the whale new album - YouTube - Noah and the Whale. I don't even really like this album that much but this song is such a highlight. It's a song about moving on from a relationship but what's so interesting is that he's still hoping she comes back to him because he has changed. The violin part on the end is such a tear-jerker.

    2. Nina Simone Feeling Good - YouTube - Nina Simone. Nina pretty much made this song her own it's a different take from the original but that's the point of doing a cover. Whenever I see people sing this on a talent show, I always go back to this version because I feel like Nina has that sense of anger, emancipation and passion which it all makes sense during her time.

    3. Moby - Porcelain - YouTube - Moby. A very ambient song. I love the instruments and the sample strings are reversed too. The arrangement is such a masterpiece and I do enjoy the album as well. It talks about a relationship and how it's delicate, hence the title Porcelain. It's a personal favourite of mine and I always get goosebumps whenever I listen to it.

    4. Beach House - On the Sea - YouTube - Beach House. I've already mentioned this album on the 10/10 album thread and any track could easily be a standout but I really love this song. I think of it as a rollercoaster and you're at the very top of it and when she reaches the part where she goes through the upper register, it's like a delicate landing without you having to scream at the top of your lungs.

Eluveitie - Anagantios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS1LO9rTxcA The most breathtaking folk instrumental song I have ever heard.

Dream Theater - The Count of Tuscany https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd3IzR6ch8A A 19 minute epic with a great story and many instrumental parts.

Equilibrium - Mana https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DiJw9wIibw Another long instrumental only song, very rarely can instrumentals give me such chills.

Equilibrium - Der Wassermann https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYoScsao21w This deserves a mention simply by how brilliantly they play it out. Title means literally the waterman (aquarius) and they manage to create water-like sounding atmosphere, I have hard time explaining this

Epica - Consign to Oblivion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVDKjeI4__M Had to add some of my symphonic love, this one has particulary great lyrics.

Eluveitie - Inis Mona https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iijKLHCQw5o The band and the song that got me into metal and completely changed my music (and not only music) perception. After all these years it still didn't get old.

All this thread needs is Foals - Two Steps, Twice in an epic 8 minute live version.

Okay it might need more but I'll get back to that later.

    an addition to my list:
Portishead - Glory Box (HD Version) - YouTube -One of the bands who elevated the popularity of the genre, trip hop.
D'Angelo - Untitled (How Does It Feel) - YouTube (NSFWish) -Pretty much one of the most sexiest songs I've ever heard. I love this record.
Digable Planets - Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat) - YouTube - The flow is smooth as hell compared to the usual "gangster rap" back then.
Clockworks by Up Dharma Down - YouTube - My favourite Filipino band.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnUl846J8-M One of the first instrumental songs I really enjoy listening and keep coming back. It's not a song where I would normally just listen to on background but as a great song to meditate to as well

It seems like you're a fan of band that begins with the letter E :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm really liking Der Wassermann, It's not my cup of tea but I like how this sounds like a soundtrack for a video game.

There's some E conspiracy in there, half the stuff begins with E for me actually :astonished:

As for video game soundtrack, I think people describe it as 'epic' music? Grandiose or something, orchestrations etc. Some metal bands/genres are really into that kind of stuff.
