There's Yaoi Manga and Anime Yaoi. so if you like reading, go with manga. If you like watching, go with anime

It's a bit old, but Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (ignore the others), and Dragon Ball Z are good. Soul Eater is a really great one too. Ouran Highschool Host Club is sort of a parody of standard anime tropes.

Oh, I forgot, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's a fantastic anime.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It's a good read and a good watch!
The art style starts out pretty retro (The JoJo manga started in the 80s but the franchise as a whole caught on in the states around... 2005 or so.), but it's definitely worth it for all the references to Western rock.

The anime came out in 2012. 2 parts of the story have been adapted into animated form, and the 3rd part is in progress. The anime is on CrunchyRoll. They had to change some of the names to dodge copyright lawyers, but nobody really complains about Pokemon name changes, so...

Fun Fact: The author says that Dio Brando is bisexual.

Other recommendations: Kill la Kill, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, etc.

If you liked Sword Art Online, then I would recommend Log Horizon (similar genre, though this one is more about the world building/politics/exposition of an MMORPG game than SAO is)

Bakuman, Darker than Black, Psycho Pass are nice.
Mahouka, Zankyou no Terror and Akame ga Kill are interesting if you want to watch ongoing anime too.

Hi there ^_^ I know everyone has listed some anime series above, but I'm going to just list off all of the ones that I've seen AND liked. Some were probably already listed or you may have already seen, but I'm going to put them all so that you can maybe use that to see which types of anime I like (ie if I like some of the same types of anime as you do, maybe you will like the ones that you haven't seen, if that makes sense). Here they are, in no particular order:

    -Naruto Shippuden
    -Bleach
    -Death Note
    -Soul Eater
    -Black Butler
    -Attack on Titan
    -Sword Art Online
    -Darker than Black
    -Fairy Tail
-Fullmetal Alchemist (both are good, prefer Brotherhood)
    -Blue Exorcist
    -Ouran High School Host Club
    -Eden of the East
    -Chrome Shelled Regios
    -Kaze No Stigma
    -Welcome to the NHK
    -Princess Jellyfish
    -Code Geass
    -Elfen Lied
    -Clannad (and After Story)

I liked all of those, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some but oh well >.>

Hunter hunter is good cause of bromance between gon and killua.
Fairy Tail is for comedy and power of friendship and apparently a lot of "boobies"
Naruto is good too but I stopped watching it cause I was annoyed at Sasuke
If you like western ones I suggest Avatar The Last Airbender and its ongoing sequel The Legend Of Korra

Baccano's about about train heists and gangsters set in 1920-1930s America.

Black Lagoon's about a gang of ragtag mercenaries that shoot people and swear a lot. Its comedic but also depressing.

Madoka Magicka's a must if you like any sort of magical girl shows. Its a really interesting take on the genre and mentioning practically anything about the plot's a spoiler.
