    Well, ARE you?

I'm very hesitant, but one of my closest friends really wants me to go and see it with her and my sister just for fun. I've already explained to her, though, that I might not because 1) I'm a lesbian who has no interest whatsoever in watching straight porn on the silver screen, and 2)I'm not comfortable with rape.

I read something that concerns me, too--potentially, this movie will inspire SO many people to try bondage and S&M relationships being TERRIBLY misinformed. There is NOT mutual consent. The safe word is ignored. I'm not sure that just anyone can use the equipment without causing serious harm to their partner needing medical attention. It's kind of romanticizing abusive relationships and belittling the movement that's been going around the media lately that you should teach men not to rape.

What are your thoughts, EC'ers? :icon_sad:

Whaha oh no! I'm not going to watch it. I did see the trailer, but it didn't have my interest at all. I did not read the book and don't plan to read that either.

No, and I hate them for effectively ruining the term "shade(s) of gray." -.-

No, I didn't read the book either. The characters seemed very annoying from the reviews I read. Weak and dependent female protagonist and aggressive male protagonist relationship dynamic put me off.

To me, looks like a really commercial movie/book, with no interesting content at all. So, it's a no for me.

    No.

However, I am inspired by it. The fact it started off as a really bad Twilight fanfic, and has become a success, has inspired me to half-ass write something, and make money.

I read all three books. The main characters annoyed me a lot but I was interested enough to continue. I am curious to see the film. I definitely don't consider myself a fan though.

There are so many well-written fanfics they could've made a movie about and they choose this one... T_T

I haven't read the books but just like you mentioned, I've heard a lot of people say it romanticizes abusive relationships so no... I'm not going to watch it.

Doubt it. I haven't actually read the books but I have little interest in the series.

No. I can't wait until it goes away so I never have to hear about it again. 50 Shades should never have been a book, let alone a movie. I've never read any of them, but from what I've heard they're a horrible misrepresentation of BDSM relationships and I dread to think that people are out there using it as a guidebook.

If it's based off of a Twilight fan fiction (and Twilight was already abysmal),then there's no way it could be any good. Hell no.

hell no. Luke Grimes has a problem playing a gay character but he has no problem in that movie that kinda potrays women in the wrong light, let alone misrepresents the BDSM community?

George Takei narrarated the book version. That's the only thing related to that book that I was interested in.

The movie looks even worse, so that's a big, fat NO.

I haven't read the books , but I want to see that movie I'm just curious about it and what the fans will say , I'll wait for reviews after that I will watch it but I don't like that the female character is well weak .
