    Hey all,

New to the forums, but was wondering if there were any tabletop roleplayers lurking around. And if there are, what are your favourite systems?

Mine are without a doubt Call of Cthulhu and Vampire: the Masquerade (I have a thing about dark creepy settings :lol:slight_smile:

Let's see, me and my mate play a lot of table-top games, maybe not 'pure' RP sorts, but currently, we have been playing:

    Mice & Mystics + expansion
    Robinson Crusoe
    Pandemic + expansion

...we tend to like cooperative sorts of games best.

We just got Quantum for a change of pace, but haven't played it yet. We hope to join a gaming group soon, if I can find one that fits our schedules.

Haha, I've actually got a copy of Mice & Mystics and Pandemic (just the base games though). Yeah, co-op games can be fun but sadly the gaming group I was playing with tend to prefer Euro board games lol.

And wow, I wasn't expecting replies for this thread that quickly lol

    nah sadly not :frowning2:

I'm a massive otaku though when it comes to gaming and anime culture XD

    I have been a D&D/Pathfinder player since forever. That's how I realized I'm trans.

LOL I think I realized my sexual orientation from my adventures over the internet as an adolescent teenager. But that's awesome

I did play a little bit of D&D with friends in high school, and I've tried Pathfinder Society once. I enjoyed those sessions, but I think I've always found the rules a little overwhelming... especially if you're playing a spellcaster lol XD

I think I'm gonna head out for a bit so should be back later. But it was nice meeting all of ya peeps

Dungeons & Dragons, I've indulged in before.

It'd be kind of neat, to have an EC Dungeons & Dragons game, come to think of it...

Unfortunately, we already tried it, and it didn't work too well. However, our GM Tetraquark was very awesome, and I wanted to extend zer my thanks! Not sure if they post anymore.

No reason it couldn't be retried, though.

Right? So. Yeah. I have always played female characters whenever I played. I have read online that it's pretty common for male-bodied people to play female characters, especially in general-computer based RPGs. However, in tabletop, it's very uncommon. And of course, I got misgendered a lot. But, I was told that I was pretty good at playing female characters. Wonder why... :rolle:

I don't think a forum play by post works very well.

That said, IF there is significant interest, and there's someone who is familiar and comfortable enough with D&D to run a game, we could always try having a game over Skype with voice/cam call. That's a big if though XD

PS: I saw your post on my wall Abi, tried posting on your wall as a reply didn't work seeing as I didn't have enough posts sorry

I would choose a girl pc name it with a female form of my name and act real hard like that means nothing, when I was younger. :icon_redf

Really? I know a few players who are your usual run of the mill straight guys who play female characters from time to time.

I've tried playing as a female character as well, and it's fun if you have a solid character concept with a strong background. But for me, it doesn't really matter at the end of the day seeing as it's roleplaying, and you're meant to have fun with it

Right, so like I said, it's very common on general computers. Over tabletop, much less so. (Playing "cross" gender, that is.)

I reason that's because people feel more inhibited in person. Playing "in cross" is quite uncommon for face-to-face I have found. One friend and I are the only ones I know who ever did. And after doing that for five years, I figured "something is up."

I've used to. I usually DMed game for my friends tho'.

Fortunately they liked my less fight more talk/act style games. Adding Book of Erotic Fantasy into mixture made our sessions more fun.

Well I kinda meant tabletop roleplaying, wasn't really talking about computer/console gaming lol. Maybe the gaming groups I've been part of were weird.

But I get what you mean, it's probably a lot harder to identify with a gender you're not really used to portraying. Especially if you identify yourself as a straight male/female.

LOL at that Book of Erotic Fantasy bit XD

Wouldn't mind having you as a DM haha

But yeah, some people prefer roll-playing (ie just rolling dice) opposed to roleplaying. But you always get members like that in a group :3

Edit: and OMG I just visited your profile page... there are actually people who still play BG2????? That's awesome

I've recently really gotten into iron kingdoms which is a role playing game by privateer press based on the war machine and hordes universe, it's really nicely done and adds to an already expansive lore

I've played both Pathfinder and Savage Worlds. I just found my Pathfinder character sheet, while cleaning out my apartment room, today. I believe it should be here with me, today, in case I get to play her for an upcoming con.
