I think some songs can be calming to some but won't be to others so I can only say for me these few songs are very calming and can lead me to daydream.

Joshua Kadison's entire Painted Desert Serenade album, I can just listen to that album over and over when I need to calm down and relax, just love the sounds of the piano and his sweet sounding voice.

Metal and rock, maybe rockpop/punk pop.

I also like vocaloids for just everyday listening.

    The most calming

A new study came out I forget from what University that suggest you actually listen to instrumentals to be calmed down by music. Vocals get in the way and can distract you from the actual music.

It also suggested really listening to just music for about 20 minutes a day. It can have heavy calming effects.

I love classical guitar covers, they sound so calming.

This is one of my favourites,

Edit: I don't know how to post the Youtube links :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: But it's 'Sad but Beautiful "Mad World" Classical Guitar'

Lots of guitar songs are very soothing, maybe some indie too.

I like listening to Supertramp, it's very good and calming music.

Also any kind of rock is good all the time.

To relax, instrumental music, may be experimental or ambient, some post-rock. (Mogwai, Explosions in the sky, Kyte, Mono ...).
To cheer up, Jonsi's Go Do album does it for me.

Red Wine by Kelly Rowland has some very dreamy synths, calns you down instantly.
China Love by Janet Jackson is quite a slow song, not sure what instruments it uses.
Lonely by Janet Jackson is quite a sad/happy song, but it's quite slow.
