So my boyfriend took me to see it last night, its actually pretty awesome (has 97% on Rotten Tomatoes) about the true story about LGBT people supporting miners in Wales who ended up supporting them in return. Its actually really rather good
Its not getting a Canadian release? Its out in the US next week so I thought the Canadians would get it
Lol, the nearest theater near me that is showing it is 2,282.13 miles a way, I will have to wait for the Blu-Ray. Looks good though.
I'm not really a fan of movies of this style: low budget, pseudo-historical British comedy dramas, The Boat that Rocked being a good example and looking similar in production to this one. The Full Monty and Billy Elliot also come to mind. They come off as a bit too kitsch for me. Mind you I'd probably watch it if it was ever on TV as it does seem an unusual story. I've never heard of the gay community supporting the miners, its not a story thats ever been told really. I don't really know anything about it all but I'm wondering what happened? I've never really heard of the Welsh valleys being an accepting place for difference, particularly not during the 90s...did this movement just die out or fail to spread due to remoteness of communities?
