I am curious how many other people on here listen to metal. Any kind. Prog, Thrash, Nu, Death, etc.

I can't imagine there being many, if you combine a minority with a minority but I thought I would ask!

Personally I am really into Parkway Drive right now. I just love their breakdowns and it is also awesome to workout to.

    I also listen to:
    Children of Bodom
    Amon Amarth
    The Amity Affliction
    Disturbed
    Avenged Sevenfold
    Metallica
    August Burns Red
    DevilDriver
    Lamb of God
    Soilwork
    Trivium

Tell me what you guys think! I want to hear who else listens to metal and what you are listening to right now. Maybe name your favorite song or something!

    Just talk! It's fun.

Woah! Those are some pretty intense bands man. Some of them are just too much :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: pardon my ignorance but what is a battle jacket? Is it like those jackets with patches of all the concerts you have been to?

You listed folk metal too... You mean like Ensiferum and stuff? Eluveitie? Alestorm? Korpiklaani?

Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth are intense as well.

And you correct! That's what a battle jacket is.

And yeah, That's Folk Metal. Wintersun is also a really good Folk Band.

Love a lot of different genres of music which also means heavy metal! \o/

Folk Metal is great (Finntroll!), as well as the old favourites in Nu and Prog. Gwar are super awesome! Can't go wrong with the standards - AC/DC, Anthrax, Sepultura, etc. For years I've been dying to get to Copenhell and Metal Female Voices Fest... maybe next year!

    Another one here.

Not so much heavy metal but more melodeath (Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, Ex Deo, Fleshgod Apocalypse) and folk (Eluveitie obviously, Ensiferum, Equilibrium, Scythia etc.)

Occasionally I dip into other sort of metals like heavy, power or symphonic - really like bands like Dream Theater, Falconer or Epica and Nightwish.

I love Metal. I pretty much only listen to that.

What kind really depends on my mood. Of the top of my head, some of my favorite bands are Rammstein, Five finger death punch, Epica, Apocalytpica, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Disturbed, Eths (French band worth listening to if you don't know it)... There is so much I can't list them all.

I especially like going to Metal concerts because of the mood. And cheap beers...

I'm also seeing Skeletonwhich/Sabaton/Amon Amarth on Friday and on Sunday I'm seeing Morbid Saint/Sadistic Intent/Exumer.

I too like metal: I've been going to Wacken Open Air (the biggest metal festival of Europe) for about 12 or 13 years now. That is more than half of my life! Apart from that I sometimes go to other festivals and listen to many metal bands. The number of bands I listen to or that I've seen live is too big to even remember most of the names.

Just a few bands that are high on my list (and actually I've seen all of these bands live for at least one time, and most I've seen more than one time live):
    Iron Maiden
    Judas Priest
    Paceshifters
    In Flames
    Rammstein
    Edguy
    Avantasia
    Kreator
    Children of Bodom
    Alice Cooper
    Die Apokalyptischen Reiter
    Nightwish (with Tarja)
    Powerwolf
    Airbourne
    Scorpions
    ...

And the list goes on and on.

According to Wikipedia Summer Breeze attracts about 40,000 metalheads, while W:O:A has attracted about 80,000 metalheads for the last few years.

Not very well-versed in metal. I like early Mastodon, little bit of Megadeth. Motorhead. I couldn't tell you the difference between most of the 54325847329043982 metal subgenres people seem to love getting into wars about on reddit and whatnot. Maybe the difference between darker moodier Opeth-type stuff versus the triple-guitar-riffage-plus-vocal-histrionics of Iron Maiden versus the loathsome ultra-complex wankery of Dream Theater. I could probably tell the difference at that broad a level.
