Off the top of your head, what musicians deserve recognition for their public support towards the LGBT community? Who has really put in effort? Furthermore, who do you think has used us to gain popularity?

Kele Okereke as he manages to do it in a very subtle way which is quite refreshing.

I don't have anyone to add, but I just wanted to thank you for mentioning this. Rise Against is one of my favorite bands, and you just gave me another reason to love them more.

no disrespect to you but Macklemore completely used the LGBT community and his song could even be considered offensive. I don't think the "support" was genuine.

Cyndi Lauper has always been a supporter of LGBT rights, as she is the founder of the True Colors Fund charity.

oh boy... that Demi video... and the unconditionally one I'm assuming you were referring to the lyric video where I believe the two people were both trans. I definitely see where you're coming from

I believe Cher and Madonna made a positive impact, unless I'm mistaken? I've also heard that rapper Lil Kim was one of the first hip hop artists who supported the community.

There;s plenty of Artists that have made a positive impact on me, and they aren't against gay people, but they haven't done "anything" for gay rights. They have made music that has supported me heavily so I'd consider that a positive impact.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Tegan and Sara, Macklemore, and Mary Lambert.
Lady Gaga has a few songs that if you listen closely, it's obviously about us.
Katy Perry's "Firework" video contains a gay character, who kisses his crush at a party.
Tegan and Sara are lesbian twin sisters, but they specifically state "not with each other".
And of course, Macklemore and Mary Lambert's "Same Love". Mary Lambert is, in fact, a lesbian, and she is married.

You should check out Pansexual rapper Angel Haze's cover of Same Love.
Angel Haze - Same Love Freestyle (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Cover) - YouTube

I think her own lyrics are on point and I feel like it hits closer to home compared to the original.
