i don't know if this is a thread that has been started but what would you say is your favorite film of the year thus far? for me it would be Boyhood in my opinion it isn't just the best film of the year but one of the best films I have ever seen. I love it for the ambition it shows and the story is just so involving.

Nothing really has stood out that well this year. There has been movies I really enjoyed but they aren't something I'd consider that note worthy.

Divergent and Guardians of the Galaxy were both pretty good, IMHO.

NO ONE I MEAN NO ONE BOTHERED TO SEE THIS MOVIE AND IT IS FUCKING AMAZING, FUNNY, DIFFERENT, ACTION PACKED, THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING FROM START TO FINISH LITERALLY NOT A SINGLE MOMENT THAT IS CRAP I WAS UPSET WHEN IT WAS OVER.

EDGE OF TOMORROW; LIVE, DIE, REPEAT. The Tom Cruise movie that came out, it is actually so good I cannot believe it, on my top ten list of favourite movies for sure.

This movie thoroughly fucked up their marketing campaign, and what could've been a blockbuster became a flop, I am a movie nerd, so take my word on it, this movie is actually good and I hate Tom Cruise.

TAKE GROUNDHOG DAY and MIX IT WITH INDEPENDENCE DAY, AND YOU GOT EDGE OF TOMORROW

Tom Cruise keeps on waking up to the same battle against an Alien race invading the Earth. Anytime he dies in that battle, he wakes up at the beginning. Sounds stupid, but believe me it was really awesome.

JUST AMAZING!! 10/10. THIS MOVIE WAS FUNNY LITERALLY FUNNY, AND EXCITING.

DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE COMPLAINT MINUS THE END.

I loved The Fault in Our Stars and Guardians of the Galaxy, but my favourite movie of 2014 has to be X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Dawn of the planet of the apes was my best film this year so far. The next Hobbit and Hunger games films will be good too.

Out of the handful I've seen from this year so far, it'd have to be Guardians of the Galaxy.

I really need to see this movie. I think so far no one has ever made a film like this before (except for documentary) where they literally film a boy as he reaches adulthood. I am not surprised if this film wins Best Picture.

I haven't seen movies that much this year because I've been trying to watch movies from the past however I saw The Grand Budapest Hotel. Ralph Finnes basically stole the show and never thought to find him really funny.

All the Marvel based movies put out this year were gold. Cap, Guardians, TASM.. I think X-Men takes the top spot though. The X-Men are my favourite comic book wise too so it made sense that that was my favourite movie. Also, James McAvoy. DAYUM.

Grand Budapest Hotel was absolutely brilliant. Love Anderson's style, soundtrack was top-notch and boy was Ralph Fiennes good.

Sadly it's the only 2014 film I've seen. Boyhood seems to get perfect scores everywhere but I do wonder if it actually has any substance.

Summer Wars! That thing was fantastic for a number of reasons i won't bother mentioning here, to avoid spoiling it.

"but Shinji, that is not from 2014..."

"shush, they don't know that... and won't even bother to check!"

    "but what if they do..."

"well it's not my fault movies have sucked for several years now"

"yeah but...what about that one movie you watched with that one guy that did the thing"

"see, even you can't remember what it was about, because it sucked!"

    "yeah i guess you're right"

    "damn right i am!"

I haven't seen a lot of movies this year, however I did see Lucy. I wasn't sure I would like it, but I found it really interesting and fascinating to be honest.
