It's bad enough to push an album back for the unteenth time, but to then make a manafactured, recycled album is just insulting. Every single song on the album is about having a girlfriend, breaking up with them, or having sex, and it's getting boring. It just seems like no-one tries with their music anymore?
You need to look beyond what's pushed in people's faces for good music. People tell me there are great indie groups out there that just get no publicity so never get famous. Until then I've got some suggestions that might not be to your taste, but I think they're exquisite: Amaranthine by Amaranthe on Spotify American Pie by Don McLean on Spotify The Times They Are A-Changin' by Bob Dylan on Spotify Summer, Highland Falls by Billy Joel on Spotify Crazy Dream by Los Lonely Boys on Spotify And I don't have a crappy opinion of their artists either.
I'm not sure Don McLean, Bob Dylan or Billy Joel count as "moving beyond what's being pushed in people's faces", seeing as how they were pretty well promoted by major labels back in the day. Not a diss on the music being presented here, of course. There IS good R&B music being released these days, although it does seem you have to do some more digging to find it. I certainly wouldn't twiddle my thumbs waiting for Chris Brown to save R&B - he's sort of burned through all his chances in my book. Lex
I agree with Lex. I mean, I feel like he was better back then and is just trying to overcompensate right now (even if I wasn't really a fan of his music to begin with). There is better R&B out there, but it certainly is harder to find. So much hidden talent :/.
I know they're less than "underground indie" names and are actually massively rich and famous, but they aren't modern pop and that's what seems to be the issue a lot of people have. Not being into R n' B I can't really suggest anything closer to what he's looking for.
I don't expect him "save R and B" it would be nice if he tried a bit harder than "I love you so much" and " I wanna f*ck you right now."
I think he was suggesting them because Don McLean, Bob Dyland and Billy Joel's songs have meaning in them unlike Chris Brown who only sings about sex. It could be argued that Don't McLean's American Pie is lyrically one of the greatest songs ever written
@Some Dude There is meaning to a song about sex, but it's the fact that 70% of the songs on X are about it.
