    I just bought the cast recording of 'WICKED' in German

    That's gay in a whole new language... It's absolutely amazing... I love the direct translations of certain songs


    I'm not that girl = Ich bin es nicht = I am not it
    Defying Gravity = Frei und schwerelos = Free and weightless
    What is this feeling? = Was fühl ich in mir? = What do I feel in me?

    And Boq isn't Boq anymore... his name is Moq

    It's fabulous

    I love a lot of German translations of American songs. Or even the other way around. They crack me up half the time because the story has been completely changed. One example that comes to mind is 99 Luftballons (in German) versus 99 Red Balloons.

    No where in the German version of the song are balloons described as red. There are a plethora of other instances where the song is changed solely to keep the melody in place, and throw out the story. ha!

    Back a few decades there was a rendition of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd in Germany. It was amazing to spot the differences in the lyrical elements between the American version and the German version.

    the japanese version is soo funny aswell..

    popular, is all in japanese, except the word popular.

    "no good deed" is "Gutes tun" and the translated the title from "Wicked" to "Die hexen von Oz" which in english means the witch of oz.
