One song that I really liked a lot and I thought that it could have been a huge urban contemporary hit was an artist by the name of Morgan James. She recorded a version of Prince's song "Call My Name". Prince's version of the song was one of my favorites from his CD "Musicology" but her version took it to another level. I saw Morgan in an interview where she mentioned that Prince had given her his blessing on her recording of his song and that he was really impressed.

Chris Garnuea is a really good artist but you'd have to really like slow, downer music because that's all he does. His song No more Pirates isn't very slow so if you decide to check him out then I would start there

I've been hooked on this song as of late. Profound art like nothing you'll see today.

I love just about anything by Poets of the Fall, they're a Finnish rock-y band that has some beautiful ballads too, as well as more aggressive stuff. Their lyrics are good and their music videos are amazing (try Daze, for example, or Carnival of Rust)
