Are there people here on EC that appreciate and like to watch silent films?

When I was younger, they'd have Silent Movie Sundays on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) here in the States. They'd show silent films from Sunday evening all the way until 6 am Monday.

I really like Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, and Buster Keaton.

I appreciate most film and so Silent films would be fine for me to watch as long as I can watch it by myself without my brother ruining it because of its age.

When I was a kid they also run many movies of Lloyd here on TV.

You can find many silent films who became public domain on Youtube... like this first "horror" movie.

How people can be scared by this thing is beyond my reason... also how they understand a thing from it. Lloyd ones were funny at least.

    But did you scared?

However now I can understand how it can be scary for folks of that time. Maybe we are not realizing it today but we are exposed to more violence than people of those years.

At some points maybe they could be viewed as more crude but I bet even my 12 year old nephew saw more gory and bloody things/murder than average guy of those years.

There are two movies I absolutely love one is Metropolis and the other is Nosferatu. As old as Nosferatu is it still gives me the creeps. Metropolis is a powerful societal movie.

    I love silent movies!
Metropolis and The General are great but Charlie Chaplin has a special space in my heart.

I thought it was creepy yet interesting. I didn't really get scared at all , possibly due to the fact that my professor was explaining the film as we watched it.

Buster Keaton has always been a favorite of mine.
