(Contains season 2 spoilers. You have been warned) So I recently (within the last month) got into AoS, and I just finished with all the episodes out so far. This show will be the death of me, I swear. Poor Fitzy. Whedon better make him a okay or else I will hunt the man down. I don't think I'll ever forgive Ward, because of what he did to Fitz-Simmons. I'm just blown away by season two in general. The first series was superb, and the second just got better. It feels like one huge Marvel movie, and that's what I like so much about it. AoS doesn't feel like a spinoff, but a standalone entity that can support itself and fit neatly into the MCU. It doesn't feel like a "transplant", like quite a few other spinoff type shows do. Overall, I'm in love with how this season is going. Can't wait until the show resumes!
I don't have anything of value to add to your post. That being said, i strongly disagree with your statements, praising this show for what it is. A weak show highly dependant on one person to carry, with the occasional "guest" appearance and a bunch of references. The story is simply non existent, and while it was fun "guessing" what really happened to Coulson, apart from that, nothing truly interesting happened until the actual end. To me personally, it's one of those shows that you put on as background noise while you work.
I'm pretty sure the UK is a little but behind the U.S. episodes, but don't worry- nothing was spoiled in your post. I really enjoy Agents of Shield. Fitz is probably my favourite character. Hey, did you see that they just announced that they'll be doing a crossover with Avengers: Age of Ultron? I'm interested to see what they'll do!
I'd have to disagree. The show is not dependent on one person (you indicate that it is Coulson), but it centres around many people. AoS isn't just the Coulson show, it has a lot to do with Skye's backstory, Fitz's recovery, etc. Coulson's death does take a large part in the first season, yes, but because it was the centre of the plot. HYDRA/Centipede wanted the GH serum for their plans, and Coulson was the one that knew about it. There are so many intricacies in the subplots that cannot be found in watching just a few episodes, which is what I assume you did. And if you're pushing the idea that a show is bad when it has only one character that carries it, then Doctor Who would be considered bad. Sherlock (BBC), would be considered bad. Two main-main character there. We'll have to agree to disagree, I really enjoy AoS.
I've been watching Agents of SHIELD since the day it started. I've loved it from the beginning! I do believe the beginning was rocky and it had trouble finding itself for a while, but once The Winter Soldier happened, the show became AMAZING. Season 2 has really been epic so far. I can't wait for more. Even though people hate on the show all the time, and they have the right to if they want, it annoys me to death. Its like they don't even bother watching it and giving it a chance. There's still people complaining about it not having superheroes in it.
I get so frustrated by the people who complain about the lack of big-ticket cameos. It's kind of like they don't understand the point of the show, which is what goes on at SHIELD when the heroes aren't around. Plus, most of those actors are budget breaking costly. I'm surprised they were able to get Lady Sif and Agent Carter on the show. I agree that the was of a lesser quality, but when you're watching it for the first time, you're just way too excited for another thing to add to the MCU, you don't really notice. I'm just in shock about the winter finale. If you've seen it, I'm tempted to start a wall conversation with you about it.
Exactly! We've definitely had major characters though. I mean, Coulson himself. And like you said, Agent Carter and Sif. We've seen some of the Howling Commandos. And let's not forget Nick Fury too. Some people just don't grasp the concept of what the show is supposed to be. Oh man, I'm still in shock over that ending as well. So feel free if you want to talk about it!
I like Agents of Shield, but it took awhile to find its footing. Episodes 1-12 of season 1 ranged from mediocre to terrible. Episodes 13-15 got a bit better, but it wasn't until episodes 16/17 (when the Captain America tie-in affected everything), that the show really began to take off. Season 2 has been a huge improvement over the first season. The characters are all more interesting and the new characters (including Skye's dad, Bobbi and Hunter) are great additions that have shaken up the dynamics.
I've really liked the show from the beginning, but they really amped things up in season 2. I also was very annoyed with how Ward put such a hurt on Fitz-Simmons. those two were my favorite part of season 1 and watching them now is just painful. I'm awfully tired of seeing Ward switch sides every 5 minutes. I couldn't care less how much he thinks he's in love with Skye, we don't need to see him in season 3 and his death needs to be pretty spectacularly excruciating.
