For all you metal fans... I have a great debate! Who's better AC/DC or Megadeth? I like AC/DC better because they have a distinct sound and WAY better guitar riffs. Now, who do you think is better and why? 3,2,1 GO!
^^^ I agree. But if I had to choose, it would be Megadeth. But if Bon Scott was still alive and singing for AC/DC, then they would be the choice.
Megadeth, because Rust In Peace is a thrash metal masterpiece that, in my opinion, tops anything AC/DC has ever released.
I like both, but like AC/DC a bit better. Been awhile since I've listened to any Megadeth (or AC/DC for that matter) .. maybe one of those would be a good choice to load up the CD Player with this weekend
It's possible that I'm making a mistake here, but I'm seeing AC/DC more as a rock band than a metal band. Both obviously have a completely different sound and content. I wouldn't want to rank them, because I think their greatness and legacy transcend boundaries of genre in any case.
^ Yeah they are a rock band, seemingly for some reason hard rock often gets mistakenly classified as metal. I like AC/DC but I've never listened to the other band
Of course you have to look at the terms heavy metal and rock during that time of AC/DC and the other bands. With Black Sabbath's first release in 1968, was the very first view of gritty and down tuned guitar work thanks to Tony Iommi's accident and his own wacky prosthetic fingers. The original template for metal so to speak. The term heavy metal that was used to label bands at the time was still a silhouette of ambiguity back then. As it still is today as trying to label bands of that era. But with AC/DC, people still considered them hard rock/heavy metal at the time because they were loud and brash. Of course... AC/DC was considered a punk band when they decided to move to the United Kingdom. Which to this day, still seems shock the hell out of me. As of today, it's much easier to label bands as heavy metal considering how much it has evolved over the past 5 decades. But the context that the term heavy metal is used today as opposed to the late 60s and 1970s has changed... drastically. If you look at it in this light... AC/DC is metal... but Megadeth is the evolved form of that metal. Honestly, Metallica would be a better example to compare them with. Figuratively speaking, Handing the baton to the new breed. --- My source is: VH1's Heavy: The Story Of Metal... great show...
Megadth. I like AC/DC but I've grown bored on them. As a musician, Megadeth keeps me on my toes. As others have said, too different to really pay.
AC/DC because they just have that unique guitar sound that you can always just tell it's an AC/DC song, if that makes sense. And also because I grew up listening to them.
I couldn't really tell you which band is better. I just prefer AC/DC. I dunno why. I think it's the lyrics. I'm also biased because I listened to AC/DC when I was very young, long before I knew about Megadeth.
Yeah, very different bands, to the point where it's hard to ask the question. Also AC/DC isn't metal. I prefer AC/DC though. Especially when it's Bon Scott singing.
AC/DC is very much a rock band, as almost everything they've done has been inspired by Chuck Berry (although that might not be a good argument, as Rush are Prog rock and they take a lot from The Who). I haven't heard Megadeth, so I've got to say AC/DC as the band of choice.
AD/DC all the way. If you hear their song anywhere you can just tell that it's theirs, The riffs are very distinctive.
AC/DC = My Dad Megadeth = Me in grade 10 ... Megadeth. AC/DC only has pop songs with relatively heavy riffs. Same exact structure every time, and the drummer cannot be any more basic!
AC/DC is hard rock. Megadeth is thrash metal. You're comparing apples to oranges here. ---------- Post added 15th Feb 2015 at 07:05 AM ---------- But for the record, AC/DC.
