I recommend this film based on a true story.
Really moving as well as informative vis a vis the miners strikes, gay rights and cooperation between the two groups during that time.

Haha. Just posted a thread about unions in chit chat and referenced Pride in the post.

I agree, it's a good movie and well worth watching.

I'd love to see this. The cast looks great - Bill Nighy, Imedla Staunton and Andrew Scott (Moriarty!)

Think I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD

Excellent film. Watched it a few times! As I'm the same age as 'Bromley' (Joe) I remember this period. I loved seeing a copy of Capital Gay which I used to pick up from the clubs in Brighton (where I remember the collecting buckets for LGSM being shaken as we left the clubs). The film has a few (excusable) inaccuracies such as the music was all Hi NRG as I remember it!
The gay bashing was also worst than depicted.
BTW. The real Dai has organised for the real colliery band to march and play at this year's Pride London in June. I'm hoping to go along (for the first time funnily enough).

The actual actor playing him's only 22.
But I guess you're referring to the character.

I think the instances that are portrayed in the film are sufficient to get the message across though.
Don't think there'll be to many people going "Oh it wasn't all that bad after all" after watching this.

As a kid in the valleys (it is a precise geographical area btw, for those that don't know), I had no idea about any of this. I have to see the film soon though!

It's literally one of my favourite films of the year, everything about it was so great :') Plus Bromley is unbelievably cute.

Such a brilliant film, went to cinema to watch it today with my mum. We just both cried our eyes off afterwards. Really good, really powerful film. My mum got so excited about the film that she wants to join me for the Pride this summer! Stories like these make me always value the activists that we all should thank and appreciate, because of them we can live like we do today. :')
