Encouraging songs

Discussion in 'Entertainment and Technology' started by quietisviolent, Mar 7, 2015.

1. Heyhey!!

I have a really simple question for you guys: What songs encourage you to be yourself/ingnore what others think of you?

Some of my personal favourite ones are:
- Playing God (Paramore)
- Bite My Tongue (You Me At Six)
- Never Be What You Want (We Are The In Crowd)

These are just a few but I hope you'll help me make this list a little longer

2. Please, anyone?? (*hug*)

If the thread doesn't get any replies, maybe it was just too awesome. That's the attitude you need. I've got tons of songs that would fall into this category. I just think some of them might offend people.

4. Hahaha yeah, I guess it is too awesome. But I actually just want to make a kind of playlist for myself to listen to when I need it. For example, in a few weeks I will be going to some kind of prom at my school and I will be wearing a suit (and not a dress, which everyone will be expecting) and I think I'll need the whole week to prepare myself for that and music would help me a lot.

So if you have any songs (preferably pop/rock/alternative) just list them please!

And One, one of my favourite bands ever, has plenty of both uplifting, and introspective songs. This one, Dancing in the Factory is probably their poppiest, most fun one. It was actually the first song that made me think "This sounds gay... but... that's alright!", so it's a pretty important song to me.

If you actually listen to the lyrics, it's very encouraging, it's just about doing yourself and not worrying about others. Doesn't hurt I find the singer sexy as fuck haha, that voice.

Again have to listen to lyrics, but it's basically about ignoring everyone else

"fuck everybody" is a lyric, to give you a jist

this is one of the most encouraging songs I know of

song is basically against following trends, awesome encouraging song. Songs about being harassed.

This song is possibly one of the most encouraging. If you've ever worked a shitty job, or do work one, this song is definitely for you. Pretty sad too

Honestly, listen to the lyrics of this song, you'd be hard pressed to find a more encouraging song, and I'm being serious

Lyrics from song

This here is life, so tell me who chooses whats wrong and right
Is it what we see, on tv, get a job, raise a family
Thats how I was raised, how I was brought up
Get a wife, a son and a daughter
Thats how I was taught to be proper
Never thought anyone could get caught up
And slowly I grew up, and the fairytale quickly vanished
Realize that life is a bitch, and shit you got to be able to stand it
And you got to be able to handle it, the stress and the pressure you channel it
And you learn to cope, at the end of your rope
Anyway that you can, wit liquor or dope
Or work hard, raise your kids, strip clubs, whatever it is
Smoke weed, shoot hoops, whatever you find your happiness through
It's your life, just make sure you know what you want when you go to get it
Keep doin this shit for you, not your crew, or the dude you tryin to impress, kid
Life is simple, life is hard, and ya life is fun

I'm in no way a pop music kind of guy (minus a scant few holdouts) but a good song for encouragement is P!nk's "Fucking Perfect." It highlights how we can think we are worth so little, only to hear that others can hold us in extremely high esteem. So steel yourself and keep going.

These are a few of the songs I listen to to remind myself that things aren't as bad as I'm making them out to be. That usually makes me feel better when I'm down.

Bill Withers - Lean on Me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEXQkrllGbA

Phil Collins - True Colors (Cyndi Lauper does the original, but I prefer Collins' cover)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IilVx_gr69c

Van Morrison - Days Like This
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUL65ddSbk0

Alanis Morissette - You Learn

I know they wrote the lyrics as they went along, and it reminds me of automatic writing. This song is still the story of my life.
