Is anyone listening to this album? It's phenominal. I love the mix of rap with the Jazz and funk influences. Lyrically this album is just spectacular. Kendrick completely nails the themes of the corruption of money and the treatment of black Americans. I honestly believe this is the best album in quite some time
I got halfway through it this morning and I wasn't at all sure.. will come back to it soon and have another think.. already I'm confident it's nowhere near as good as GKMC though ---------- Post added 17th Mar 2015 at 01:13 PM ---------- Also, being into Led Zeppelin and Kendrick is pretty rare I'd say ha but that's cool
He's still ascending I was curious to see if he could put out anything close to GKMC cause I just assumed he couldn't top it. See what I get for assuming cause I think he might have the lyrics subject matter production all have me like :icon_bigg(!) Great Album
Yeah It feels like something I should really like but I'm not at all excited about it tbh, just didn't do much for me
It's a long album, but I don't regret giving it my time in the least. Deep lyrics with a creative sound. Rap isn't usually my style, but somehow To Pimp a Butterfly worked for me.
I don't know how, but he managed to top G.K.M.C. To Pimp a Butterfly is a phenomenal album, and it seems like Kendrick is just getting better and better with each release since Section.80
