I finished reading the book the other day, and I was kind of disappointed. I honestly think that the recent adaptation with Leonardo DiCaprio was better, and I'm surprised to hear myself say that because I almost never like the movie better than the book. What are your thoughts on the book?
I didn't think it was fantastic when I read it a few years ago, however I did love the symbolism of the eyes of Dr Eckleberg.
I liked the book a lot (I'd probably have liked it a lot more if I didn't have to write an essay on it for my A-Level, though )
Neutral/dislike. As a commentary on the inability of money to fill a hole in one's heart or other interpretations it worked well enough, but I didn't think it was entertaining. Like the rest of classic literature it was just too slow and stiff. I like more more excitement in books.
This is one of those things that i've been meaning to read but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
