Hello EC,

Nice to see you all again. How is everyone doing  I am fine thanks. So I am here to talk about AMA2k8. That is American Music Awards 2008. But before I go on about that, for all u gamers Tomb Raider Underworld, Call of Duty: Jungle Warefare and Call 4 Death are now out and I played the TMU already (or atleast the first level) and the demo for C4D and they are games I wanna reccommend.

Ok! So as we all know at any music award ceremony the performances are ALWAYS the highlight of the night. So I need not say more of what I am about to illaborate on.
Howev, your views on any awards given would be much appriciated...even though the views of the live performances are what this is all about.

So lets see, random order? Beyonce's performance. Now I am very amazed by this girl. I watched the Beyonce Experience concert and that girl danced and sang and never missed a note, skipped a breath or cracked when jumping and octave higher or lower. I thought her performance rocked solid. At first when this single was released I thought it was an annoying pain the the ass but I am actually starting to like the cathyness of it...what says you? probebly why even ladies who wern't single were all excited about the performance(yup, I am talking about the first lady herself  Queen Latifah, I didn't miss ur face ether!) I also think Christian Seriano did at good job at the design and creation of her performance outfit.

Anyways, there was once every other caribbean artist that came on the music scene and fall and then there was Rihanna who we just can't get rid of (no matter how sometimes her face can be annoying) but guess what? I must admit this was one of her best non-lip sync live performances in fact...the performance she did with TI at VMA earlier this year was saying NOTHING. And whats with the outfit? huh?! an eyepatch? eww... Anyhow, I am curious as to two things.
A. Why does she choose to make a video and resing it with Justin Timberlake of all people 2 years after the album has been released.
B. WHY WAS HE not on stage with her performing since he was obviously on stage a couple minutes ago presenting an award

I want you all to know I watched this whole show just to see Pussycay Dolls and I have to admit their performance was a dissapointment (I am their biggest fan so I know when they do a good job from when they don't) and that was just poor. I loved the start with "Hate this Part" but then the run in with "When I Grow Up" is just sad. Her singing was all over the place, the dolls looked shabby and unorganized up to the point of the dance break at the end. That was good...in fact great. I loved the dance break but Nicole....no....don't sing Hate this Part then go into When I Grow Up again. Obviously she was a bit tired after taking such deep breaths for the bridge of Hate This Part.
Btw, whoever said Danity Kane was better than PCD obviously slap their head on the floor when they fell off their bed. Far as I can see Danity Kane dosn't even exist. Anyone hear anything from themas of late? (hears cricket in background)..oh. Thought so.

Nevertheless, I am not a Taylor Swift fan (at all). I hate country and I hate that annoying accent (on most of them anyways) but I can't say that for this young lady's performance at the AMA. She was so soulful with her song and idk if her ex was there yes or no but if he saw that performance I am sure he would have felt how I felt. Except nether of us can have her because that girl sang like she was serious. Passion? omg. "White Horse" was the song she sang.

Ok. Now this chick makes me want to commit suicide when I hear my little 8 year old niece sing her songs. So for her birthday I bought Gabrielle a Hannah Montannah CD and she was happy, so I got her a poster of Miley and her reaction? "ewwwwwwwwwwwwww, uncle Alex! I hate Miley Cyrus." Me: I thought you like Hannah Montanah! Gabrielle:" of course I do, but I only like Mickey as Hannah, I hate her as Miley"
......ok then.....
I took her preformance as a break to get more popcorn anyway and if I said anything it would probebly be biased :eusa_naug:badgrin:so you all be the judge of that. What do u guys think?
tumbs up or down?

Unlike Rihanna's performance, can't say quite the same for none other than Christina Augilera herself. The mistress of pop music herself. While the lighting in Rihann's "Rehab" performance was rather, yea....f:***:ked up. The lighting in Christina's was so perfectly done if I don't say so myself the lighting crew purposly sabataged Rihanna's performance. Anyhow, Christina deliverd and I am suprised she didn't lip-sync (I mean come on she did in VMA earlier this year for the same song so)...Anyhow, in her 6 hits, 6 minutes medly she also did "Dirry" which she sounded mad and hungry in, dispite how perfect "Keeps getting Better was. The "Ain't No other Man" segment was soled out(thanks to the wise choice of doing the part closest to the dance break) and "Fighter" which was done after was a knock out of the park. But let me not be in over my head because accoring to my TV buddy "The back-up singers did most the singing so meh".
What cha' yall think about it? Solid?

Anyways. If your a huge P!nk fan then her AMA performance to "Sober". I think it rocked and you all know my view on Pink. I think she sounds like a drunk smoker sining at a funeral but who said funeral singers don't sound great? I think Pink performed to her expectation and I enjoyed watching it. I am not too sure what was up with her clothing option but the dress was fabulous. Its not everyday u see a female smash out to a rock song in a .....formal...dress...
one word. Sweet.

P!nk also later did a duet with Sarah McLachlan performing "Angel" and beleive me they did sing like Angels. However I am afraid Sarah just has a way more powerful voice for such soft music in comparison to Pink. Hearing the chorus was like hearing Sarah McLachlan with back up singers:eusa_doh:.

Mariah Carey's Performance was good. Not her best but, HEY! atleast its the first in a long while we have seen Mariah perform and she is not in a skimy mini dress or something so exposing they would have to write the show off as PG 16
Her performance was from her album M=Csquare (i think I got it right) and the song is called "I am Still in Love with You". Some say the song did not fit the occasion but it was nice to include a cheesy 'love song' in the mix.

Leona Lewis, said by many to be a photocopy of Mariah (above) and the girl did say so herself that Mariah is her idol (hope for a duel in the near future) performed "Better in Time". I was told she has a video for this song that has been out for sometime but I am afraid it missed me. But I should have known better, any international song that Jamaicans overplay on local radio obviously has a video behind it (always does). The performance made me doze off :eusa_silefor a tiny nap for a bit but seeing it over on youtube shed some light on what I missed.

I can't say much for Natasha Bedingfeild because I missed it; but Alicia Keys performance was super. She performed a song I still don't like that much "Superwoman" but I do remember tapping of feet and a round of applause at the end. I am afraid I can't show you but Alicia Keys was among one of the most nominated artists. Annie Lennox deliverd a great performance:eusa_clap as well and I immidiatly went and added the song she performed "Why" on my mp3 player moments later.

I would say the ladies where the best performances of the night. I honestly didn't fancy too much for the male performances but heh...thats just me.

I heard this song "Signle" on my yahoo radio station (without me even selecting it) and i never liked it but I found myself singing while watching the not so New Kids On the Block performance. It was ok and not as horrible to watch as I expected it to be. *takes out lighter and waves to slow music*

Ne-yo and Coldplay both had great performances. In fact my cousin was crazy about his outfit and many of the girls at my school say he was the best dress man of the night even though I bed to differ I loved Akon's tux and the outfit the Jonas Brothers were wearing(which was exactly what I was focused on during their performance). However, even comming from a person like me. Idk who I was most interested in watching. Him, or the dancing girls who kept skining out their legs (especially the one in the red salsa dress) but of the 2 songs "Miss Independent" and "Closer". "Closer" was the better performed song. As for Coldplay a litte old but I was kinda hopeing they would have performed "Viva-La-Vida" but their "Lovers in Japan" performance still pwned and atleast some of us had fun (awkward dive in confettiie -on stage during performance )

I honestly don't see what people find soo crazy about those 3 boys but I guess I will never understand unless I am a middle school girl who chase after boys I can't get. Their performance to "A little bit Longer" was ok but not something I went crazy about. Anyone has any other opinion on that?
I am still trying to figure out....
Is Kanye West a singer or a rapper? hmm...I was expecting him to sing "Love Lockdown" but his "Heartless" performance was ok. I was more enthused by his performance in comparison to the pretty faces(Jonas Brothers) vs face looking like a space alien(Kanye's sunglasses) although seeing him in it reminded me of the little midget in the 'Sprite' commercial. Obay your thirst; drink Gatorade FTW :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Anyhow, I am glad it was Kanye and not Lil' Wayne. Gosh knows how much we all got sick of him at VMA just sucking up the show which made VMA look so poorly planned and distributed.

So that comes to the end of my review. Anyone I missed who u all wish to critique, feel free to do so. And all the people who hate PCD, you cna all get your laugh. I think they were better off just singing Hate this Part and done(if they had only just did that).

Thank you if you actually read this this to the end  but most importantly I am looking for your views

oh. and btw; let me take the last few words to tell you guys to stop listening to the leaks and just wait for Britney's new album to release. :icon_redf

I don’t like Beyonce as much as the other former members of Destiny’s Child, and I really don’t like the fact that she gets all the attention, but I can’t deny that she has talent.

I really like Rihanna’s music and I have to say that her live performance wasn’t too bad; it wasn’t amazing, but everyone knows that Rihanna isn’t the best vocalist.

I really, really like PCD but mostly just Nicole. I don’t like it when people hate on her or PCD and say that Danity Kane is better because I don’t like most of their music and like you said, there hasn’t been much about them in the news lately. I think that PCD would have been better off just performing I Hate This Part Right here, but I think that they thought that they had to do an upbeat number to please the fans. I can’t wait for Her Name is Nicole because I have heard some of the clips and I love them. Now, back on topic…

I don’t usually like country either, but I like some songs by Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. I think that her performance was really heartfelt and sincere and it makes me respect her more knowing that she wrote the song and can actually sing.

I really don’t like Miley and I don’t know why she has a recording contract; I would be fine with her as a songwriter and I think the songs that she writes are quite good, but I don’t like her voice.

As for Christina, it does seem like the backup singers sung most of the songs and on some of the songs she forced her voice and it didn’t sound the best.

I am a big fan of Pink and her music; she’s a cool “I don’t care what other people think, I’m going to be myself” kind of person. I thought that her performance of Sober was great.
