Im just curious if anyone has any songs that as soon as they listen to it, they feel an instant connection, like the lyrics were written about you even if they aren't necessarily LGBT focused lyrics. Or any song or band/artist that you listen to when your down.

Im curious because I was listening to Vermilion Part 2 by Slipknot and they lyrics hit me like a train. Music can be the best support, and Im curious to see how you wonderful people use music to deal with all the BS out there, and how it helps you.

I often use music to help how I'm feeling.
Personally, if I can connect to what I'm feeling in a song, it calms me down.
Currently, I'm listening to a vocaloid song called magnet. A piano version of it, it's beautiful.
But the lyrics mean a lot to me.
It's about lesbian lovers who are said to be sinful by society, and in the end, it's unclear whether they stay together or break up because of pressure. That's how I interpreted the words at least. The piano version ha no words, but I can somehow get the bittersweet feeling from it. Can't describe it, I have a connection with music.

I usually feel angry and don't like most people, so I listen to alot of hardcore and metal, which is usually what a lot of misanthropic people flock towards. In particular, I would say I relate to Napalm Death's music alot, because of how involved the singer is in activism. Converge and Refused are pretty great too, they make me feel like I'm not alone in thinking that way you know

I mostly listen to this German band called die Ärzte. I really relate to this one song of theirs that's about how you have to be yourself and not care what other people think. I guess that's kind of a cliche but it just says it so well. There's one line that goes something like "Maybe I'm not the best, maybe I'm the seventh best or tenth best," and it just gets to me because it's like permission to not be "the best" and not to feel bad that you're not "the best."

I don't fuck with you - big Sean

It's just like... Fuck the haters, fuck your ex and fuck it. Imma do me.

That's the way it is - Celine Dion

That song was practically written for anyone in the closet. Listen to the lyrics.

    I can read your mind
    I know your story
I can see what you're going through...

Don't surrender, because you can win...

I break down and ball like a baby when I listen to it. It was a cathartic release when I started to come out at first.

I like way too many songs but there are a few I'll put on occasionally when I'm feeling blue. Hair of the Dog's Rescue Me, Skid Row's In a Darkened Room or Wasted Time and Edguy's Save Me come to mind.

I identify with a lot of songs, so too many to name. As for music to cope, Mariah Carey got me through practically everything, really. I would single out the following:

Mariah Carey - Through The Rain
    Mariah Carey - Hero
Mariah Carey - Can't Take That Away
Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston - When You Believe
Céline Dion - A New Day Has Come
    Kelly Rowland - Stole
Aly and AJ - Sticks and Stones
Anna Nalick - Breathe (2 AM)

Also I love listening to power ballads in general and to Natasha Bedingfield because her music cheers me up.

I have my top three favorite songs that define who I am

The first: Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon.
(This is my most favorite song in the world. Its my love life)

Second: Iris by The Goo goo Dolls
(This is me as an individual)

    Thrid: Yellow by Coldplay
(This is me talking to my past self)

an honorable mention goes to Bulletproof by La Roux. I sometimes sell myself when I need money, and this is the song I listen to every time, right before....

I like aggressive music. Almost all calm music bores the pants off of me.

I usually just enjoy the energy in music. It's a bonus if a song contains lyrics that sound like a good horror story or something I can relate with. Sometimes I relate to the atmosphere of songs that don't have lyrics. Dark Psychedelic Trance tends to be especially comforting.

Rock, Punk, Metal, that kind of stuff. There's way too many to just choose one song. If the lyrics mean something to me, then I identify with the song.

Today, it's Hallelujah by Panic! At The Disco, Could We Burn Darling by Fearless Vampire Killers and Miss Charlene by Lordi

    I have a lot.
Happy Little Pill - Troye Sivan
What a catch, Donnie - Fall Out Boy(also called 'I got troubled thoughts and the self-esteem to match')
    Centuries - Fall Out Boy
Do you really want to hurt me - Culture a Club
    I don't believe you - P!nk

    ---------- Post added 16th Jun 2015 at 10:45 AM ----------

I also especially identify with the sentences 'you're my cherry blossom, you're about to bloom. You look so pretty but you're gone so soon' Centuries by Fall Out Boy And 'If you love me let me go, these words are knives that often leave scars, the fear of falling apart' in This is Gospel by Panic! At the Disco.
Punk and rock, I love it

The song Lolita by Lana Del Rey reminded me of myself, I think...
Andrew Jackson Jihad's music is also very relatable. (^◇^)

Identity by August Burns Red. The lyrics for this song hit hard right now for me since it seems it's about the struggle of coming out. The reason why I say "seems" is because ABR is a Christian band, but way more open minded. Regardless of the lyrics, the song is pretty awesome. (Lyrics are in the description if you just want to read them)

Woah. Just WOAH. I listen to ABR but I've never heard that song before, and I agree, it hits hard in the feels. Coming out seems to be a present theme in the song, I think
