Just watched The Fault In Our Stars finally - hadn't seen it. I've read the book a few times and it made me cry - didn't expect the movie to do so as well! What movies have you watched that made you cry?
I really need to watch that. I've read the book and I'm so not ready to see it. So many movies make me cry. Pacific Rim, even though I've seen it a hundred times War Horse Imitation Game made me sob even more than I expected and that's saying something Monuments Men The Book Thief Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay Snowpiercer Big Hero 6 Inception
Free Fall The Repeaters The Tree of Life The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Hereafter All great but I forgot some other ones.
The Cure The Land Before Time The Green Mile The Champ I only watched the beginning sequence of "UP" and was like.. NOPE! A ton more, but these were the easiest to remember
The Fault In Our Stars I really liked, haven't read the book. one movie that got me not once, but twice is Forrest Gump. I saw it twice the week it started, first time I cried when Forrest and Jenny ran to each other in the reflecting pool at the rally. 2nd viewing it got me when Forrest was being introduced to his son and he started to ask if his son was smart or like him. just tossing this out there, but I don't consider crying at a movie any kind of weakness or something to be ashamed of. I actually find it surprising when it happens more often than not and sometimes it isn't always just a drama that brings it on.
I'll admit that I cry easily at movies. I'll even cry at an action movie, because when a helicopter crashes into a building there are so many innocent lives that have been lost. Anyway, here are mine. The Fox and the Hound Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade To Kill a Mockingbird The Lion King Edward Scissorhands The Shining (even though its meant to scare, the underlying themes are just depressing).
Few I can come up with which are relatively sad, Schindler's List Grave of the Fireflies Pursuit of Happiness I am Sam Life is Beautiful After making this list, i realize i've lacked watching sad movies or there are any good ones around.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is one of my favorite sad movies. Grave of the Fireflies is heartbreaking too.
American History X is one that left a big impression, it deals with Racism and depicts alot of graphic violence so naturally it's not for everyone.
I always cry at the end of Return of the King when Frodo and Bilbo leave with the Elves and Gandalf. I've cried at plenty other movies too, but can't recall them right now.
This is kind of an obscure one, but The Geisha Boy. By no means is it a sad film. It's a comedy, and not much else. The majority of the film is just set up for jokes, and jerry lewis being jerry lewis. So I have no idea why this film struck a chord in me, but it's the only movie that's ever made me tear up. I suppose it's of value to mention that I was nine when I first watched it. Spoiler (around the 3:07 mark) Shiloh, and Where the Red Ferns Grow are both really good sad dog movies. There's also movie called Mama Bear (i searched for it on google just now and got back no documentation of the film ever existing, but my family definitely had it on cassette. where did you come from, mysterious movie) which was a kids film but dealt with a lot of animal cruelty, and was generally very melancholy.
Call me weird but the devil's rejects and saw 3 nearly left me in tears. I don't care how evil you are if I am attached enough I cry.
