I've been playing the piano for 11 years now, although I'll admit I don't have 11 years' worth of skill because it was always a side hobby (my main hobby is sports), and was at the bottom of my priority list the whole time. How long have you been playing? Feel free to share any songs you're working on. I'm currently trying to learn "Carrying You" by Joe Hisaishi, otherwise known as the movie Castle in the Sky's theme song. It's tough because I'm not good at large chords, I have short, stubby fingers that sometimes can't stretch in a large four-note chord. I wish I had bigger hands. >.< Carrying You Sheet music: Carrying You (Innocent) Also, if you're into piano and anime, Your Lie in April is an awesome slice of life anime featuring a piano player. Check it out!
I used to play the piano, I started at 5, but unfortunately I stopped playing a few years ago. I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to relearn it if I wanted to.
I compose and play. Have played for about 10 years and composed for 4. Wish I could send you a link...
Hey there I've played the piano since I was six, it's a beautiful instrument. My favorite composer is Chopin hands down. And then Mendelssohn and Grieg. I'm not too advanced, but I can play through a nocturne or too and have good sightreading skills. I love the emotion and poignancy that can be expressed through the piano.
I've played since I was (I think) sixteen. My favorites have been Chopin, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff. Right now I'm working on Bach's fugue in A minor (from WTC, book 1). It's taking me forever to learn.
I've played since age 11. My sight-reading skills are atrocious, and I require a lot of muscle memory, but I studied as broadly as Scott Joplin rags, J.S. Bach concertos and fugues, and Rachmaninov preludes. Probably my favorite two pieces I ever played were the Rach 23 5 and BWV 1052.
I find the piano to be a very interesting instrument and would love to learn more, but for now I only know a few basic songs and I am awful at reading sheet music. I'll take a class one day... maybe..
I've been playing piano on and off for about 20 years. My favorite composer to listen to is Beethoven and I'm currently learning the 3rd movement of the Tempest Sonata. My favorite composers to play are Bach and Scarlatti although I like to keep a diverse song list (Schubert, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Chopin, Schumann) memorized for when I'm asked to play at parties and get-togethers.
Bubblemonger: use those to your advantage! I have terrible sight-reading and I think it deters me from learning a lot of songs. Pret_Allez: same with me for the sight-reading and muscle memory. I'm bad at reading notes quickly. It's something I need to study xp Heatqueen: I love that song! You picked a good one!
I love to play the piano! Whether or not I'm GooD at playing the piano is an entirely different story...
I've been playing for 2 years and am completely self-taught (unless you count basic keyboard playing in school) I've recently started learning a Mozart piece to discover that I'm not anywhere near as good as I thought XD I mostly play my own music but I have learned a few pieces and I have to say there is no feeling quite like hearing the sound that you never thought you could never create coming from your own fingers.
I know how to play Hot Crust Buns. Does that count? I love the piano! Especially a grand piano. I think it's the sexiest, most beautiful instrument
Yes I play for services every Sunday. I am not the best that is for sure, but that feeling you get when you get lost in the music/playing. That is something else for sure
Hey, nobody has mentioned Satie or Nyman... I used to play the piano long time ago. I'm more of a composer, and spend many evenings mixing tracks, background city noises, dialogues from old films... They were stories made out of pure sound. Oh, I had a soft spot for sythesizer music as a teenager. Stuff like 'the fly' or 'crocket's theme'. On Jazz I could bore you all with a wall of text, so I'll keep it short : Monk & Bill Evans. I miss playing, I really do..
I've been playing for about 6 and a half years, I started when I was around 9 years old, and I'm 16 now. At the moment I'm trying to learn 'Everything's Alright' and 'For River' from To The Moon. They're really hard but I keep practising every day, and I know I'll get them some day
