Sorry if there's a thread like this but meh...

    What's your favorite book/movie genre?

I actually like Horror movies; and occasionally horror books. But horror books are a lot harder to execute the feeling of fear... And horror movies can be cheesy; I think they're funny sometimes. LOL

I do tend to like some drama/comedies actually. But only at specific times where I'm in the "late-night-out" type of mood. ;P

    And I LOVE Sci-Fi and Fantasy. They're my type of books/movies.

Same! Fantasy and Horror are my favorite genres.

I agree, most horror movies make me laugh, but I really enjoy reading original horror stories. The subreddit /nosleep is just brimming at the seems with great original stories and authors.

Fantasy is probably my favorite genre for both books and movies. I also love documentaries, if that counts as a genre :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Most books I read, however, are non-fiction, mostly historical.

Also I'm writing a Sci-Fi Fantasy book.

So I guess my love for those types of books gradually increase through me solely writing about them.

Does anyone feel this? XD Like you like something the more you write about it or do it ;P

I would have to go with science fiction for both books and movies, just finished reading
"A roadside picnic" and "The stars my destination" ( also called Tiger Tiger) both very good books.

With books, if it's a subject or topic I'm interested in, I'll give it a chance. Though I tend to stick to anything pertaining to Philosophy, Law, Military History, and Biographies. I can enjoy Fantasy and other pieces of Fiction, too. Alternative History is one of my favorites.

With movies, Horror is probably what I watch the most and know the best. Well, from the 1970s until the beginning of the 2000s.

Science Fiction is hit or miss, and depends on the content. But I do like the concept.

Action is fine, and I can be suckered into a Romantic Comedy. However, it isn't my first choice. Comedy is okay, if it isn't the following:

    - Will Ferrell. I hate Will Ferrell's brand of comedy.
    - Toilet humor. I don't mind immaturity and stupidity, if done right, but banking on the audience being amused by insulting their intelligence, irks me.
    - Forced humor. Larry the Cable Guy fits the previous and this one. He rarely, if at all, comes off as genuinely funny. I hate when people are just expected to laugh, just because you say something.

I like parody or satire a lot. Movies like Black Dynamite.
