The Deathstroke series is fun, but if you wan't something a bit more vanilla, I'd recommend Batman, or Batman Detective Comics. They're both pretty classic, and there's no specific issue you need to start at (I don't recommend starting in the middle of an arc though).

I think you would really enjoy Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin series

Most comics have been re-released, so you don't need to spend a fortune on the original edition. I think Kindle has a lot of comics that they've added to their library. Their prices are fairly low too.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is certainly not DC and not "kid friendly" but if you're our resident psycho, shouldn't be a problem.

I like Hawkeye, Deadpool, and a couple others. I finally found a decent woman protagonist in Batwoman: Elegy, but I had to go to DC for it.

If you're new, you can really just grab whatever catches your eye. There's plenty of content and no need to start at the beginning or anything.

Captain America and Spiderman are my favorite superhero ones. Get Fuzzy is hilarious, though it's not DC. It's hard to not love it though:
