Like the title said, what songs do you usually listen to when you can't sleep, and why?
Quote lyrics, post links, or just write their names, whatever you feel like sharing.

When I'm sad and can't sleep, I listen to 'Overkill' by Colin Hay
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj2CD5xgpNY

Especially the first verse always gets to me.
    "I can't get to sleep,
    I think about the implications
    of diving in to deep
    and possibly the complications

    Especially at night,
    I worry over situations
    I know will be alright
    perhaps it's just imagination
    "

And when I'm just unable to sleep, I for some reason like to listen to
'I'd rather dance with you' by Kings of Convenience (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Grr7cOc8pzg )
    and 'Whitewash' by Buckethead.
    (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHQmDqlv5Rc )

Now it's your turn! Tell me, what's your "I can't sleep" song?

The End by Pearl Jam. I also like Fionn Regan's stuff, nice and mellow-perfect for late nights

    Something calm and melancholy.

    Like:

Honey, It's Alright (Gregory Alan Isakov)
You Are a Memory (Message to Bears)
    John My Beloved (Sufjan Stevens)

    The list could go on...

"Fireflies" by Owl City. The last bridge just makes me smile every time, it makes me feel like it's leading into a whole new happy story. The last line, "because my dreams are bursting at the seams", strikes every chord with me.

Michael Bublé - It's A Beautiful Day for sure. I dunno why, really, it's just a super upbeat song and despite it not being sleep-ish (or at all relevant to my life, if I pay attention to the lyrics) it clears my mind enough for me to fall asleep.

Something classical, preferably. For some season, baroque music seems to do it. It isn't that I find it boring, but the lesser volume range in the piece seems to lull me to sleep, as opposed to a piece that switches frequently between piano and forte...

The unplugged in new york stuff by Nirvana. Great band with great lyrics, and take away electric guitars and loudness from the equatiom and it's really relaxing. Also, just about every other album by Nirvana, but that one stands out.

Anything by Celia Pavey. She has such a soothing voice. Her original version of Candle in the Night with the light breeze and the birds chirping in the background gives of this really heartfelt welcoming vibe.

Coldplay can also work wonders. Ghost Stories should've been called Good Night Stories instead, except for the one song Sky Full of Stars that just felt horribly malplacé imho.

For some reason Fleetwood Mac do the trick (don't ask me why??). They just do. "Dreams" is one of those sleep inducing songs, in a good way though.

I also have some Mahogany Sessions live recordings of Rachel Sermanni on my music playing device that are just wonderful. "Ae Fond Kiss", "Breathe Easy" and "Marshmallow Unicorns". Those three songs and I'm done, I'll sleep like a rock.

I usually listen to thrash metal when I can't sleep, as that works better for me than any sleeping drug. My brain is kind of stupid that way.
