Who's your favorite singer/songwriter...gay or straight

I have a number of favourite singers/songwriters. I like them for different reasons. Depending on my mood different artist appeals to me.
My top favs include: Elton John, Darren Hayes, George Michael, Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, Ronan Keating, Daniel Powter, James Blunt

 

Oh, I forgot. Since I'm reppin' A town now, can't forget Crime Mob. Their new cd "Hated on Mostly" is awsome

Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Jann Arden... hey they're all Canadian!

CK actually wrote half or more of the songs on Avril Lavigne's second-to-last CD.

I'm sure there are others but those are the ones who spring to mind.

 

Defiance, Ohio is my favorite folk-punk group. Tool is one of my favorite bands. I also, love Sarah McLachlan joeyconnick!

Clay Aiken, who is straight. (Iknow rumours have been flying, but he's straight.) is my absolute favourite singer ever, vocally.
Musically, it has to be Clay from his first cd, Spill Canvas, Union Station, Dixie Chicks, or Brad Paisley.
aesthetically...Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne

all the aforementioned are straight, actually.
Gaywise, I like Melissa Ethridge, TATU (yeah, I know they're odd popish stuff) and Elton <3

 

Clay Aiken is straight like Ricky Martin is straight.

And like Tom Cruise is straight, for that matter. :lol:

 

My favorite male singer is definately Frank Sinatra. Funny thing for a metal-head to say, eh? ^^ My favorite female singer is Maya Sakamoto ^^ absolutely beautiful voice!

 

I really like Chantal's latest CD - Ghost Stories - its amazing. I saw her last show in Toronto and she was amazing! So talented!

Continuing with the Canadian theme, I also like some of the stuff done by Nickleback and Michael Buble.

I have a very broad appreciation for music - new and old. Tough to name a favourite.

Well, ok - in terms of the group I've listened to the longest and never seem to tire of their stuff? ABBA!!! :eusa_danc (Does that make me a 'dancing queen'?)

And the gay guy inside loves Barbara Streisand!

I totally forgot La Barbra... which is funny because I was just reading up on her the other day. I don't know if... no wait, she DOES write some of her own songs because I just read that she won an Oscar for Original Song and she was the first woman to do so... and she wrote most or all of Yentl, right?

I totally want to see her in concert but the tickets are always INSANELY expensive. Plus I want to hear her rant against Bush. :icon_bigg

 

Elliott Smith - his lyrics are absolutely beautiful.
Jeff Buckley - absolute passion, enough said.
Sufjan Stevens - pure creativity

As for gay singer/songwriters, Rufus Wainwright is incredible, and I can't believe that I haven't seen his name in this thread yet.


Then again, I wouldn't really consider ANY of them singer/songwriters, by the contemporary definition.

 

I was obsessed with t.A.T.u for the longest time :S lol still love them but i'm not obsessed anymore. i swear. hehe now i practically only listen to House music so I don't have a favorite artist.

 

Hhhmmm, my favorite str8 bands are Bon Jovi, Rascall Flatts, Linkin Park
And gay one is Gay Pimp^^

I think it's funny that Johnny Cash is a favorite of people so young! lol My Dad and Mom used to listen to him. My husband and I went to see him and June Carter in concert one time. I guess Walk the Line made him popular all over again!

Anyway my fave singer of all time is Garth Brooks. Not cuz he's got the greatest voice ever, but because he is such an awesome entertainer and genuine good person! My gay favorites are the Indigo Girls, Elton John, and of course QUEEN!
