Like a movie or book that you where too young to see or read. And what effet did it have on you on the long and short term?

In my case im not sure if dragon balls or dragon ball z was appropiate for me as a 9 years old. I mean, just thtink of the part where goku is at a tournament and piccolo makes a hole in his chest, or watching krillin explode, things like that.... I dont think it affected me too much but sure many parents would not consider it appropiate

I watched death note when i was 13 years old... Oh and i played grand theft auto san Andreas by that age too.

When I was 10, I watched a show that was rather inappropriate for my age as it had lots of sex and disturbing elements. I wished I had not seen it. I don't remember what it was called.

Yes. I watched one or two adult movies as a child. Nell was one of them.

It's funny what you said about Dragonball, as in Japan it is widely considered a child appropriate show. But we could go into more lengths about cultural differences and international censorship, and that would be off-topic, so I will leave that conversation for another time.

I think I've watched plenty of horror films rated 16+ when I definitely wasn't 16 yet.

I've been watching a lot of R-rated movies as far back as when I was 11 or 12 years old, if that's what you mean. IT didn't affect my psyche or anything in the slightest. I also accidentally stumbled upon furry fetish porn when I was around 13 and I was trying to look up pictures of Pokémon on Google Image Search and Photobucket. People can be so disgusting. It seriously scarred me, and might have been the catalyst for my...uncomfortability shall we say with furries that I'm still to this day trying to get over. I've at least made a lot of progress with it more recently.

    well, there is hentai...

In my parents definition, everything I watch is inappropriate because it has minor swearing.

I watched Family Guy when I was 7ish. I also read Guts by Chuck Palahniuk when I was eleven. I also watched a lot of horror movies starting in like, 4th grade.

On a trip to London I went on, just five of us (it was to do a school presentation), one friend managed to acquire a porno magazine at a service station. We were all looking at it in the people carrier, and the two teachers that took us were none the wiser!

I don't think it had a great effect on me really. I also read a couple of books that might be considered a bit grown up, but I can't really remember them.

James Bond novel when I was five.
Got bored pretty quick, but I started reading at a college level when I was ten.

In fourth grade my dad took me to see Titanic. That nude scene has scarred me for life...

I've probably seen a lot of "inappropriate" stuff when I was younger because my parents are pretty lax about that stuff. I just don't remember a lot of it since I didn't really get it.

Also, was playing GTA SA by six at least, and Bioshock 2 by ten.
Speaking of which, I oughta dust off the old PS2 and wake CJ up after all this time.
    I miss the slaughter...

Growing up, my parents had a "black box", which was one of those illegal cable boxes that allowed you to have any and every channel. We kept that contraption until I was about 15 or 16, when they began changing the signals across the country, making the box worthless. So, through that, I've seen it all:

Violence, porn, those late night talk shows with crude humor, adult comedies, and so on and so forth. I also was babysat by someone for 1-2 years, every weekend, who would watch mostly Horror films when she thought my sister and I were in bed. I'd stay up and watch them, since my room was at the perfect angle to see the television.

Of course, there was also wrestling (WWF/WWE, WCW, ECW, etc) which, especially in the 90s, was having their Attitude Era, full of all kinds of stuff... some good, some bad, and all not appropriate for younger viewers.

In terms of reading, kind of. I did have a tendency to read beyond my age, be it history or novels like Jaws. And I think any kid born in the 80s or 90s has seen a porno magazine, or had the chance to. I'm no exception to that, though back then I found a lot of the poses... stupid and silly-looking. I still do, to be honest.

Has it had any long-lasting impact? Maybe. I feel a little ahead of the curve, or did at the time. Also, it was kind of cool being able to watch these things, then later when adults talked about them, being able to understand them. A lot of older folks like to believe kids have little to no idea about certain topics, well, that was their ignorance.

Also, there is the Tremors creature movies with their foul language and high amount of giant prehistoric worm innards. I could watch these all day

When I was six I read "Tithe" by Holly Black. Tithe and the two other books in that trilogy, Valiant and Ironside, remain to this day some of my favorite books- if only for Cornelius Stone, a character in those books... I also liked that annoying chick who flirted with the guy who later became Corny's boyfriend??? X_X Sad I remember those books so well... I have copies of them but haven't touched them in years... Should reread 'em!

My dad left his porn mags and movies where it was easy for me and my older brother to find and get into. I don't think it effected me and I was younger then eleven.

I also watched the original House on Haunted Hill movie when I was like 10 to 12 but I honestly don't remember it so it obviously didn't effect me.

I was all about horror movies from a very young age. It never bothered me, and all things macabre is a pretty big part of who I am. My uncle showed me The Thing on my 10th birthday and lent me his copies of Lovecraft's work and it only took off from there.

I was also a very gifted reader, and was reading full length novels when I was only about 7 or so. Dragonlance, in particular. No more inappropriate than LotR but well above my age range. I've been playing table top RPGs (D&D, Battletech) for just as long.

I remember when I first found my dad's old Playboy and National Lampoon magazines from the '80s at a young age. I still have them tucked away in the bathroom, but I never read them, as they're old and not to my taste. Too many hairy women for me. I sometimes like to bug my dad about the fact he used to read that shit. I always love his reactions.

Be grateful you don't remember House on Haunted Hill. I only had to watch it once to see it was so shitty, even with Vincent Price in it. I personally prefer the 1963 film The Haunting, as it is a much better and actually scary horror film.
