    Hey everyone,

So I just took this little quiz, to see how many of these books I'd read out of 100. I know there's a lot of readers on this site, and even a book club, so I thought I'd throw it up here:

    http://www.listchallenges.com/kaunismina-bbc-6-books-challenge

Shocklingly, I only got 20 out of 100. I'm dying to read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, and Atonement by Ian McEwan. Possibly a few others on the list too.

On the subject of books, can anyone recommend Malcolm X's autobiography?

Malcolm X's autobiography is worth reading, if you want some insight into the times and the man, but keep in mind, it's a bit embellished. But it seems to be truthful enough.

I've only read 21, but I'm currently reading another one on the list, and there's lots on there on my "plan to read" list, so eventually I'll have read more.

Thanks! I'd expect it to be embellished with it being Malcolm X.

Cool! What's the book you're currently reading?

    14. But I've a few on my shelves from that list to read, many more to read that weren't on the list but are far better, and a few that the list has reminded me to read.
Not bad at all to my mind.

I got 12 - which is reasonable. I need to get reading.
I was surprised to see The Kite Runner on there - I didn't know it was that famous
On another note - Handmaid's Tale and Animal Farm are two of my all time favourite books.

    43. It's an odd list--there were some I wasn't even familiar with but I will say that all the ones I had read were very good books. I may take a look at some of the ones I haven't read.

The Kite Runner is in my top three favourite books. A Thousand Splendid Suns is another. I haven't gotten round to reading And The Mountains Echoed yet, unfortunately. I've just finished reading Animal Farm, and I have to say that this book, along with Down & Out in Paris & London are the best books Orwell has written. I don't like Nineteen Eighty-Four, and every time I say this, I get absolutely flamed.

I think you're in the lead. I'd say it is an odd list. It was surprising to see the HP series on there.

That's on my to-read list. I picked it up a few weeks ago but I'll have to read it some time soon.

I got 13. However, the actual number might be slightly higher. I recognize some titles, and have a sense that I did read the book...but can't remember for sure. I have had some contact with some of the books without fully reading them. I think David Copperfield was on the list. We read excerpts from that in a high school literature class. Ditto for Great Expectations, although we had the option of reading the full book. My teacher urged me to do so, and I did so.

I recall other books having been read out loud, something which was quite common in my family. Little Women, for example. But I only count the books I have read myself.

I got 9. But it doesn't really matter because I've read a lot of amazing books that aren't on their list. For example; The Divine Comedy, and collections of Isaac Asimov's short stories.

I got 17... That's more than I expected... I wasn't expecting kids books like swallows and amazons and winnie the pooh to be in there though...

I'm not entirely surprised that they had some kids' books. They could have classic/important status.

No matter...I always take these lists with a grain of salt the size of Mount Everest... To a degree, the only list that really matters is often what books does a given reader find has value? (Obviously, there are circumstances were certain books would be required for whatever reason.)

6 - all of them children's books. I've seen the film adaptations of a few though - such as Bridget Jones' Diary and The Lovely Bones.

I used to enjoy reading as a child and in my early teens, but I'll admit it's been years since I last read anything.

    Hm, let's see...

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    Great Expectations
    His Dark Materials
    Catcher in the Rye
    The Great Gatsby
    The Kite Runner
    Winnie the Pooh
    Animal Farm
    Lord of the Flies
    A Christmas Carol
    Charlotte's Web
    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

So, 13 finished, and a few I didn't finish (like The Hobbit, sitting on my shelf).

I started Nineteen Eighty-Four and haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. But everyone has opinions. Some books get so hyped and then let us down.
