So I've heard a lot about k-pop and how its supposed to be good. Agree? Disagree? What I know is that it's essentially South Korean popular music. But that's it. Where should I start (artist or genre suggestions) if I wanted to get into it? I like music in lots of genres (except rap) so that shouldn't be an issue.
It is very good depending on your taste in music some of my groups are B.A.P, Exo-K. A good way to get started would be to go on Pandora to the K-pop channel I'v found a lot of good songs that way. One of my favorite songs is Again & Again by 2PM. I must warn though K-pop has a wide range how musical styles from Pop, to dance to R&B and yes even hip-hop and rap (to me there is a difference)
it's good! well... i got into kpop because someone suggested some songs that i should listen to. so, i'll just suggest some songs by groups that i like~ i mostly listen to male groups but i'm sure someone could suggest more female groups. infinite - the chaser infinite - paradise bts - dope bts - i need u // (19+ version) exo - growl // (chinese version) exo - love me right // (chinese version) b.a.p - 1004 (angel) b.a.p - one shot nu'est - hello nu'est - face got7 - a got7 - girls girls girls b1a4 - tried to walk b1a4 - lonely vixx - error vixx - voodoo doll // (19+ version) f(x) - red light f(x) - butterfly the ark - the light bigbang - blue bigbang - loser boyfriend - janus boyfriend - witch shinee - view shinee - everybody some of those groups release entire albums that i love, with others it's really hit-or-miss for me...
I personally love it, but it's not everybody's cup of tea. Some of the groups I would recommend are: 2NE1 (Some of their songs have rap, however, as a person who generally dislikes rap, I love this group.) Girls Generation (SNSD) F(x) T-ara Exo Bigbang
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be sure to check these out. I forgot to mention that, and this is a bit different than genre, I have a strong preference for bands with male singers. Don't know why, but I've always liked male voices better, even if they're high.
Do you love boy bands and wish they were still around but amped up to 11? Do you like cutesy shoujo anime and wish it were real and that they were all pop stars? Then you're in luck~~ ^.^ Of course, there are also k-rock, k-rap (there's a reason they don't call it that, haha), and other genres, but for whatever reason, people just call them all k-pop... hmm... The suggestions above were good, and since you're looking for guys, then those are probably the current best, but if you wanted to go back a few years... DBSK and Super Junior and Shinhwa are pretty legendary, too~~
