Anyone else hate romantic comedies? I never understood why I hated them so much, they always seem fake, put on, like that would never happen, why would you want it to happen?? Of course, not that I realize I am a lesbian, it kinda makes sense why I dislike them so much. Most lesbian movies are sad, someone dies or something...lol I like comedy, just not the hetero romantic kind. I'm a sucker for a good rom-com! The Wedding Singer (fav) When Harry Met Sally Two Weeks Notice You've Got Mail Pretty Woman Music And Lyrics But I'm A Cheerleader (lesbian) But a lot of the new ones suck.
Some more lesbian-themed rom-coms you might like are: DEBS Saving Face Better Than Chocolate Imagine Me And You I've seen just about every lesbian movie ever!
I love love love love love rom coms! I'll take that over an action-type movie anyday (with some exceptions of course) Anyone seen any good ones recently?
Romcoms are my guilty pleasure. I love them. Made of Honor, 27 Dresses, Save the Last Dance, The Holiday, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, The Prince and Me; I could seriously go on forever. It's sad, and I'm sorry.
I just think they are so rote. I'm not saying there isn't anything novel left for them to add, I'm just not seeing it. They have been recycling the same narrative mold for God-knows-how-long and that got really old, like, 10 years ago. At this point, derivative doesn't even begging to cover how samey all rom-coms feel. I know, I know, all forms of art are derivative and tropey to some degree, but none so much (or nearly as blatantly) as this sub-genre, in my opinion. I'm sure casual movie-goers could still find rom-coms that do something original for them, but when you have watched as many movies as I have, there's just so much you can take of essentially the same thing being retold over and over and over again with only an ever-so-slightly different packaging each time. TL;DR: They are not for me.
