Excited may be a bit strong, but I'm curious. I want to see if they'll balance the horror with the comedy, and not go too far off into the comedy territory as Army of Darkness was beginning to do. But more importantly, I want to see if they'll avoid being too politically correct, which is what I admired about the movies. I liked how it irritated and pissed you off to see what was happening, but at the same time you wanted Ash to do what he did, because he was entertaining to watch.
Army Of Darkness was the only one I really enjoyed. Haven't seen the first because it looks too scary. The second one, while not scary-scary, made me jump every five minutes. Lucy Lawless is in the series so that's a BIG bonus
To be fair, Evil Dead 2 is a remake of the first film. It's how they intended for the first film to be, which is why they're practically the same thing. Most people like Army of Darkness. It's what made the series appeal to the masses, which is fine. I've come to prefer the original ending to the one we got though. When I think Evil Dead, I always picture that room in the cabin where everything is laughing at Ash. It's so crazy and ridiculous, but it, to me, blends the balance of horror and comedy best.
I did like that part, and when he first grabbed the chainsaw and sliced through Demon Linda's head. What was the original ending to Army Of Darkness?
I also laughed at the scene when "the evil" threw him into a tree, just all the camera angles and sound effects really made it over the top. Those little moments really stood out to me. As for the original ending... The one most see is, after Ash helps defeat the Army of Darkness, he is sent back to his time. We get the scene where, working at S-Mart, the Deadites attack and he goes into action, shotgun and catch phrase ready. This ending was decided on as it left wiggle room for a future sequel, and ended on a -- for Ash -- more positive note, considering all he had been through. I believe in Europe, they may have gotten the other ending. I'm not 100% sure on that, but I do know in America at least, we got the "happier" ending. The ending that was originally going to be done was, Ash drinks too much of the potion, falls asleep... and bypasses the year he was supposed to wake up, and wakes up in a post-apocalyptic world. The S-Mart ending was too... expected? Yeah, I'll go with that.
I'm in the uk and you're correct - we got the post apocalyptic scene. Where you're wrong however, is that the s-mart ending is so so so soooo much better Haha seriously I remember crying with laughter when I saw it for the first time - then feeling outraged at the ending we got.
I enjoyed the first season. I liked that it was more comedy than horror, though there were a few gross scenes and of course Lucy Lawless was a big bonus. I liked Dana Delorenzo as well.
Haha - I have to admit I LOVE army of darkness, and so even though I did enjoy the series - it felt very much in the style of the original films which makes me like it a bit less. I pray in series 2 there's at least one episode that pays homage to the skeletons and medieval setting of AOD - that would be brilliant The weird thing about the third film is that even though it's so silly and slapstick and cheesy, there is something so epic about the music and parts of the camera work and stuff - I love the montage where they build the helicopter blade onto the car - and the original ending is just brilliant - "lady I'm going to have to ask you to leave the store"
haha I love love love all the medieval townsfolk - "into the pit with those bloodthirsty sons of war" (chews bread)
