I don't know if there is already a thread started on this yet but if not guess there is now lol.

So who is your favorite team, and/or player? what is your prediction for the season?

Does it have to be American football? :icon_conf Because if we were talking football as the rest of the world knows it, I could easily give you team, player, and predictions...

Sorry. Rambling over here. I'll shut up now.

As a HUGE NFL fan, I actually thought this thread was about global football, not american football (NFL, NCAA, etc)...

    Anyways:

    Teams
    1. Pittsburgh Steelers
    2. Minnesota Vikings
    3. Seattle Seahawks
    4. Arizona Cardinals
    5. Green Bay Packers (except for jackass Aaron Rodgers.)

    Current Players
    1. Russell Wilson (oh yes I would if I could)
    2. Adrian Peterson (we share the same exact birthday, he is a few hours older than I)
    3. Bobby Wagner
    4. Ben Roethlisberger (the PLAYER, not the person.)
    5. Doug Baldwin

    Retired Players
    1. Barry Sanders (there will never be another)
    2. Brett Favre
    3. Johnny Unitas
    4. Deacon Jones
    5. Jack Lambert

I don't think there are very many of us on here that support a football club that's not American football, and I'm not sure there's enough interest for me to start a thread about it.

It's kind of lonely, being a German football supporter in the USA. :eusa_doh:

Unfortunately, I only watch the World Cup. So I am not in the know with the world's teams. Ironically, I am for Deutschland too! I was rooting for them in the 2006 WC when it was in Germany... so you can imagine I was SO happy last year when they won it all, almost a bucket-list-item-checked-off-moment!!! So you are not alone my man, you are not alone! Didn't Borussia-Dortmund win a huge tourney last/previous before year? Or am I thinking of another Deutsche team?

Watching my country win the World Cup made my year. It was absolutely amazing. (!) I wanted so bad to be in Berlin on the Fan-Mile but I couldn't afford the trip.

We made it to the Champions League final in 2013 (we lost 2-1), the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) final last year (which technically we won except for an atrocious call by a terrible referee and fucking Bayern München walked off with our cup), the DFB-Pokal final this year (lost 3-1, but at least that one was a legitimate loss)...

...but we won the DFB-Pokal in 2012, the league in 2011 and 2012, and we're trying to snatch the Meisterschale (the German title) out of Bayern's grubby hands this season.

Danke! I think we've got a good shot this year (as long as Bayern doesn't run away with the league before the winter break yet again). We're miles ahead of where we were last season.

I guess when I started the thread I should have included that if your not into NFL you could post about any other team or sport that you are interested in, I guess I had one of those moments where brain was going faster then fingers were.

Libra neko, I agree about the raiders fan base, they seem to think they are going somewhere lol which I think they just got lucky on their win lol.

    As for myself on teams
    1. Seattle Seahawks
    2. Green bay (aaron rodgers needs to loose his smirk after every play)

    Players
    1. Russell Wilson
    2. Max unger (oh why did we trade "sad face")
    3. Tyler lockette (this kid is going places)
    4. Julio Jones

    Retired
    1. Barry Sanders
    2. Joe Montana
    3. Brett Farve

As for other sports Baseball, Nascar, Basketball and Snowboarding( oh how i miss this sport)

NBA Commissioner David Stern did not want the team in BC, especially with the (then) weaker Canadian Dollar and lack of interest in Vancouver. Had they stayed for ten more years, they would be one of the NBA's most desirable franchises in both location and profitability. So the team got relocated to Memphis... THERE ARE NO GRIZZLY BEARS IN MEMPHIS!!! CHANGE THE NAME ALREADY! I collect rare vintage sports hats, my rarest (and most expensive) ones are of the Vancouver Grizzlies. I've had offers of 300$+ for one of them (1994 Logo Athletic paintsplash, still has original tags and never worn), but I will not sell it.

Amazing! Im not sure how collectible they are but i still have quite a few of my basketball cards from when i was younger and ones that were givin to me from family and friends. I should dig thdm out.

YES about the name change, if their going to throw money around that would be for a good cause! Also on the desireable part it would have doubled after the olympics, just with how many eyes were on the area for them.

I think it's awesome learning some of these other teams, countries, "football" as each country knows it.

I've learned something which is a great thing  also gives me something different to check out and may end up liking it. This being the case I may have more questions about this variation of football lol but hey im willing to learn!

For the NFL, I'm real big Niners fan. This year a lot of great players left and there's the new coach, so I'm not too optimistic about it. It would be really special if they make it to the Super Bowl though, because this year's Super Bowl is gonna be in their home stadium.

Yay! A fellow 49er fan. I was a 49er fan even when they went 2-14 - with those 2 wins being overtime wins against the same team - a decade ago.

Okay, so, for starters, no. Ireland, Canada, Southern Africa, Oceania, Japan and the US call it soccer.

And yes, it has to be American football. 'Cuz that's what the thread is about. This is like if someone came into my hockey thread and started talking about lacrosse.

Anyway, I'm a Bucs fan, and a Seahawks fan to a lesser extent. I don't know nearly enough about the NFL to list favourite players, hockey is my forte. I'm just hoping Tampa Bay can get more than two wins, unlike last season.
