I'm curious to know just how many people have seen this amazing movie (in my opinion), what you thought of it, the message that everyone received from it, and if you know of any other movies kinda like it. :icon_bigg :newcolor: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride:

I've seen it. Message was clear, the movie wasn't bad at all. Though in terms of LGBT+ themed movies, this one is not my favorite
But it's a definite "must watch".

I watched it a few years ago, it's what actually got me to look into the LGBT community and start to question myself. I loved it. Any other LGBT movies/shows that are good?

It hit close to home for me. Growing up in a christian community, I guess i kinda relate to Bobby's life. I think it was clear that Bobby's family loved him especially his mum, who was scared he might go straight to hell for being gay so you can see how regretful she was when she realised she made a mistake. I don't think it was just an "Ok" movie because it was set in a realistic tone and the performance by Sigourney Weaver makes this TV movie a must see film and not to mention the speech scene she gave.

"Dallas buyers club" and "Philadelphia" are my top favorites. Can't get any better than Tom Hanks or Matthew McConaughey, imo

Transparent is also a great show. It deals with a father who is transitioning as a transman and yet again very well acted by Jeffrey Tambor.

There are quite a few threads here about it. If you search "Prayers for Bobby" you can read the comments that others have made over the years.

I think it's a great film. It does whitewash Bobby's character a bit -- he wasn't quite as innocent and charming as he's made out to be in the film -- but the overall story is really well presented and I'm sure it's had a profound effect on many people.
